This may have already been asked somewhere on here, but does anyone know of anything that would be a good protein besides eggs for breakfast? Thanks so much!
Peanut butter on whole wheat toast!
Almost anything will do if you can accept the oddity of having left-over chili, etc, for breakfast.
Sometimes I'll have a tuna sandwich. Or oatmeal plus a little handful of nuts.
I like the "fake-eggs" with chopped bell peppers, onion, mushrooms & tomatoes. It's actually really filling, and under 100 cal depending on how much "fake egg" you use. I can feel satisfied with only "one egg" worth if I add ww toast & pb, or fresh fruit on the side.
thanks for all the responses. Peanut butter on toast does sound good and feeling too. Oatmeal and nuts I'm not so sure about. I don't normally like oatmeal. I don't like the consistency or something..just seems sort of slimey..but maybe with nuts added it would be worth trying..thanks guys
There are so many different types of oatmeal, one of the varities which is a larger flake oat might be better. I love oatmeal but I don't like it slimey!
Ilene on Ladies who Lift has a great protein pancake recipe, which is all over the place on this site, I'll look for it, (when not sneaking on the internet at work ) and post it.
I love cottage cheese mixed with finely chopped strawberries!
Or cottage cheese on wholewheat toast sprinkled with black pepper.
And my standby protein brekky is a smoothie made with whey protein powder, low fat milk, a banana and a few berries whizzed in the blender. Yum!
the cottage cheese sounds good with the pepper too. I bet it would be sort of tasty on a tomato as well perhaps. I make a shake too..but without the protein powder. That is a good idea to put the protein powder into the smoothie like that. I normally just put my strawberries and bannana and splenda with skim milk and a few cubes of ice. It makes a huge glass of smoothie. Also I used to have a chocolate smoothie when I got in the mood for chocolate using sugar free fat free pudding, skim milk, and ice. It's basically the same as pudding but put into more of a milkshake fashion. I bet the protein powder would go with the chocolate shake as well. I have seen the pancake recipe somewhere on here too but didn't take a good look at it, so I will do a search and find it easy enough. thanks
Oatmeal and nuts I'm not so sure about. I don't normally like oatmeal. I don't like the consistency or something..just seems sort of slimey..but maybe with nuts added it would be worth trying..thanks guys
In that case you have to try oatmeal made from steel cut oats. Nothing compares to the texture or taste..
I eat breakfast at my desk at work, so I can't exactly scramble an egg there. And I can't eat nuts, so I've had to be creative in breakfast proteins. I usually have a piece of low fat string cheese. I also recently started adding Kashi Go Lean cereal (about .25 cup) to a container of FF yogurt to add even more protein.
I use protein shakes to help get my protein in the mornings. Most of the one's I have had are disgusting, but I recently found one called Muscle Milk that tastes like a real milkshake, so I'm going to stick with that for now. I don't know of their website but I got it at Hi Health (health food store). I got all my information on them here:
