Default Salmon Question

I have never cooked salmon before and on a whim today I bought about a 1.4lbs filet. Now, I know Swordfish is about 10 minutes per-side. Is Salmon quicker? I hear about 5 minutes per side. I would love some help so I don't ruin dinner, hehe.

The rule of thumb is ten minutes per inch of thickness. There is a salmon recipe in the Phase I recipe section: Herbed Salmon FIlets that says 12 minutes at 400 for a filet of that size. If you don't want the same topping, you could pour on a bit of salad dressing.

Thanks for all the tips! I broiled it with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper and it came out really good. I was psyched, first time I have ever cooked salmon! I didn't even think to check the recipe board (how stupid of me, ) Sorry for the extra thread! But thanks for the help.
