Thumbs down Measurements thread

Wow. My first new thread! EVER!

I decided to start a measurement thread as a way to track progress when the scale is getting me down. I thought about just doing "inches lost", but it feels more honest (although embarassing) to put up all the #s. Feel free to join in any way you like!

Bailey - wow, scarey thought (sharing my measurements, that is). Do you check yours every 2 weeks then? I've been trying to do it once a month. I may post them . . .

Rabbit,

I just started keeping track on Sept 1st. I was going to do once a month, but I was "mad at the scale", so I decided to do it after only 2 weeks. Fortunately, the results were good I do think that I will go to just doing them on the first of the month though, as I don't think there is generally that much of a change if you do it too often. Better to do it less and when you are done feel .

As far as posting the #'s, it is scarry. But the more scarry thing is the size of my butt!!! I was considering just putting Waist = -.5, etc., but thought I may as well "hang it all out there"
May decide to edit this, though...

You know, I've been meaning to take my measurements for a long time...maybe now's a good time to do it?! Have to dig out the measuring tape!

OK, when trying on clothes this week, I must have just been picking "baggy" things, because although the 10's fit, these measurements have me at about a perfect size 12!

Default scary....

It does sound scary to take your mesurements, I don't know the last time I did that. I don't even think I have a tape measure - any idea where I could get one cheap. I do think it's a great way to track progress other than the scale. I think you can tell just by how your clothes fit but I like to see numbers change.

Is there any trick to it. How do you know your measuring in the right spot and that you're not just pulling the tape tighter?? Might seem like dumb questions but that's probably what I'd do.

Hey OntarioAngel thanks for posting! You have done great!

Elisa: I would suggest you go to lands end's website. They have a virtual model program which allows you to build a model and tells you how to measure. I will post my models if I can figure out how!

Hey,

To avoid confusion, the Land's End catalogue uses the same model So use www.mvm.com unless shopping for land's end clothes!

Bailey - congrats on your inches lost!

Ontario - a size 8! How awesome.

I did my measurements on 10/14 and then again on 11/1 (or 11/2, can't remember) after seeing this thread. I lost 1.25 inches in that time.

Bailey,
It's too funny that you have this post and brought it forward today. I took my first set of measurements on 1/27 and have been trying not to sneak a peek until 2/28 but I couldn't wait any longer -- I can feel my clothes getting looser.

Last night I did a quick check and found that in two weeks I've lost a total 4 inches in five areas. It's made me so excited today I haven't wanted to eat. I even tried on the black jeans that are for my next major goal and I'm thinking I'll be able to wear them in two weeks. Last time I put them on I got them zipped up but my gut was hanging over so bad I knew I wasn't ready for them. Last night I was able to comfortably zip them with only a small bulge showing. Yippeee!!! This really has me super motivated.

I'll try and remember to get my measurements and post them tomorrow. It'll be great to compare them with you because I'm close to your size -- 5'3" 162.
