A new diet I saw in the latest issue of Woman's World magazine.
It advocated protein, without being insane (like I personally feel Atkins is). It also advocated cutting out bad carbs and only keeping good carbs in. It also advocated 30 minutes of exercise a day. It said getting extra protein boosts levels of leucine, which forces a dieter's body to burn fat instead of muscle. It claimed you could lose 8lbs in 14 days. It seemed healthy, but it only allows you to have a mere 1200lbs a day, and as I just found out, I've got to consume more than that to keep my metabolism from slowing down. Still, I can modify this diet to get the 1600 calories I need. Here's the sample plan it listed:
BREAKFAST: (choose one daily)
2-3 egg whites, scrambled
1 slice whole wheat toast
1 cup unsweetened green tea (I would use Splenda, actually)
or
1/2 wholewheat english muffin
1 slice canadian bacon
3/4 oz low fat cheese
1 cup unsweetened green tea
LUNCH: (Choose one daily)
4 oz grilled chicken
2-3 cups salad greens, 2tbs vinaigrette
1 piece fruit
or
2 oz each lean deli meat and cheese
2 cups raw vegetables, 2tbs vinaigrette
1 piece fruit
DINNER:
4 oz grilled or broiled fish, chicken, or lean steak
2 cups grilled or broiled vegatables, 2tbs vinaigrette
SNACKS: (Choose two daily)
8oz orange juice or one orange
10-12 almonds or 30 pistachios
1 energy bar
1oz beef jerky
This diet seems pretty healthy, you just have to adjust it accordingly for the amount of calories you should take in. I also like it 'cause it corresponds with the 'eat every three hours' theory.
