Default Light Soymilk instead of Milk

In addition to losing weight I am trying to limit dairy do to seasonal allergies. Does anyone see any problems with switching light soymilk for milk for instance on cereal in the morning. I am not ever a big milk drinker--my dairy problem is more cheese related!

No Problem Jules. One thing I would recommend is to check the label on the soy milk. Quite a few of them are loaded with sugar, even though you cannot really taste it. I get unsweetened soy milk myself.. just to be safe.

Have you tried any of the tofu based cheeses? That is pretty much all I buy these days, except for fresh parmesan. They are quite tasty, IMHO.. low fat and most importantly.. low in saturated fat.

I never thought to check for the sugar content in the soymilk--I'll go do that. I have tried homemade nut cheeses that a vegan friend makes--but I worry about the fat content in those. I will try some of the tofu based cheeses. My husband was raised a strict vegetarian and eats very little dairy & eggs with the exception of cheese pizza which he actually eats alot.
