Has anyone tried the Walk Fit Orthotics advertised on TV and do they work? I have a lot of foot pain when I walk for more than a 1/2 hour so was wondering if these might help.

I haven't tried these specific orthotics, but orthotics do help, at least they've helped me in the past. I haven't used any lately, but they are worth a shot. If you have severe foot pain after walking more than a half hour, though, you really need to have it evaluated by your doctor. It could be a number of common conditions that can become chronic if you continue to exercise on the foot, so you want to know what it really is before deciding how to treat it.

I have a similar problem. I was having a pain in my left heel that was pretty much better and just started hurting again when I did the WATP DVD.

I have had some really bad foot pain all year and finally went to a podiatrist and had some orthotics made... my feet are so much better... I would recommend going and getting some specifically made to your feet.

What is happening with my foot is that the ball of my foot feels like it is being squeezed. Once I get off of my foot for a few minuets the pain goes away. When I start to walk again it might take another 30 min. for the pain to come back. That is the reason I was thinking of trying the Walk Fits.

Orthotics are good, but like Marianna, IMO, you might be better off havin' them specifically made for your foot ... but also, in my opinion, you need to talk to the doc and find out what specifically is happening with your particular foot so you can go from there, because there are a couple of things it could be. If you just order Walk Fits and they don't help, you'll waste time and money and still be in pain, in my opinion. Good luck. It's awful when our feet hurt.

Something else to keep in mind (of course this depends on your medical insurance coverage) is that if your podiatrist/doctor specifically prescribes an orthotic device, not only is it more likely to fit and perform better for you, but more than likely insurance will cover part of all of the cost

I haven't seen the infomercial referred to in the initial post on this thread but I was browsing through the Bliss Spa mailorder catalog at my sister's this weekend and saw this sneaker priced at $255:



According to the catalog (and website) it's an "anti-cellulite sneaker" and supposedly also works your leg muscles (that I won't doubt since from the look of them it would take considerable skill for me to balance on a pair of these!!). Y'all know I'm a skeptic and needless to say, I'm not about to order a $250+ pair of sneakers...

Dunno if it's actually related to this topic but thought I'd throw that in.

About orthotics--had a podiatrist prescribe my 1st pair--they helped a lot.
They cost alot and were not covered by my insurance. My second pair were much better--they were made by a specialist who creates and makes devices for medical conditions (I forget what they're called) They have been great!

I agree with Amarantha, you should see a doctor first, all kinds of things can cause foot pain. The one thing they all have in common, they make us miserable.

Those $250 shoes sure look silly!

Also about hurting feet--stretching before and after exercise can really help in some cases. The podiatrist was quick to tell me to exercise (walking) would help and quick to sell me othotics, but never mentioned stretching. I Googled my specific condition and found some really helpful info including stretching and when to apply ice.

I'd love to get any other info any of you might have about hurting feet.

It's pretty hard to do anything when your feet hurt.


But you can dance the night away when the feet are feeling great!

I got my walk fit orthotics at Target, so check there before you order them. I had a lot of pain in my feet too so I thought I'd try them. Well, the good news is my feet don't hurt anymore, the bad news is I now my knees hurt. I'm hoping that maybe it's because my knees were out of alignment because my feet were weird. It does say something about taking a while to adjust to the orthotics, so I hopefullly the pain will go away eventually. I'm sure the custom made ones are much better, but I figured I could try these for $20 first.

Amy, when I got my first pair of orthotics, my knee pain got better. Maybe it's not good to walk around on 'em hopin' the pain will go away ... just a thought ... might ask the doctor.

I tried some over the counter orthotics and they hurt so darned bad that I returned them (they were guaranteed). I have a pair of perscription orthotics now and you couldn't get them away from me, they helped both my knees and my feet sooooo very much. See your Doctor, it's worth the money even if you don't have insurance.
