i think everyone gets the catheter after they knock you out. it stays in for a day or so, until you can get up yourself, but it comes out quickly, unless something else is going on.
as for the breathing tube, a lot depends on the person and the surgeon. in genera;. people with sleep apnea get one. people who are otherwise at risk of stopping breathing get one, but others don't.
this is a question for your doctor.
but the other thing is that most of the tubes get pulled out before they wake you up, so you're not wandering around with it. there are exceptions, of course... so ask your doc!
