Default Getting under 200

I've heard people say that the last 20lbs is the hardest, and that may very well be true... but has anyone else found that getting under 200lbs (or 300lbs or 400lbs) is damn near impossible?!

I've been hovering around 200lbs for weeks now, going as low as 201lbs... today I'm 203lbs. I can't seem to get under there, often due to my own self-sabotage.

I'm so close! Anyone else out there close to a major milestone that they can't seem to overcome? Was <200lbs hard for anyone else?

I just want to see a number that beings with a '1'.

Yup, I always tend to get stuck around magic numbers. 260 is a magic number for me and I was stuck for a couple weeks but I think I'll get below it soon

Plateaus around a magic number are the worst. I started around 200 lbs and lost weight fairly steadily (there were a few weeks here and there without any weight loss) but I completely hit a brick wall at 140 lbs. My original goal was 135 and I was at 140 for nearly 12 weeks. It was maddening. I actually broke my plateau by increasing calories a little bit (after trying everything else - eating less, exercising more, eating more protein, drinking more water, varying my workouts, etc).

Good luck breaking the plateau, you can do it! Breaking through my magic number and seeing the lower number on the scale was a great feeling, 199 will look SO GOOD! The most important thing is NOT TO GIVE UP!

Boy, do I hear ya'!

When I did get under 200 this past year, it was really tough, but my worst...and something I HAVE NOT conquered yet is getting past 187. It's my all time low since I had my kids. Something happens at that weight that scares me...and I quit. I've done it twice now....and I'm having a really hard time getting geared up to go for it again.

I don't know what it is, and I hate that, but I just wanted to let you know I feel your pain.

I know you can do thas...and when you do, it's going to feel soooooooo amazing!!

Plateaus suck! lol - seriously though, they do! It's so difficult to keep plugging away when you see no results. (Nelie I'm there at the 260 point too - blah!)

I am only 5 feet and have been right around 200 for years! My range seems to be 196 to 206! Very discouraging. Of course, exercise might help!

Yes. For me it happened just AFTER I got to Onederland. Suddenly, everything got harder. I wanted to quit! I was sick of logging all my food! I wondered for a while if I was going to ruin all my hard work.

I eased up on myself for a few weeks. I ate a little more (100-200 extra calories/day). I'm sure I slowed my weight loss a little, but it was enough to give me a breather.

I'm highly guilty of this too, but I think we focus on the scale WAY too much. It is just one marker of how we're doing. We let it own our self-esteem sometimes, and that's just silly when you think about it. Maybe instead of worrying aobut the scale, find some other goals to think about: challenge yourself in your exercise maybe? Gives you something else to focus on AND helpful for the scale in the long run.

The same thing happened to me with 200... now I'm stuck at 193 and the scale won't budge. It happens! Hang in there!

I also thought getting below 200 was very difficult. I was not satisfied until I hit 197 and then I finally felt like I had beaten that 200 mark.

I was stuck at 212 for a bit. Then I was stuck at 210 for about 4-5 weeks. I get the feeling I might be stuck at my current wt of 202 for a bit. Only time will tell.

Hi Kashi!

Oh, YES! I can really relate to what you say! I have been at 212 for about SIX MONTHS! Don't get me wrong...I am thrilled that I haven't gained back any of the weight that I have lost, but NOT very happy that I am at a standstill!

I've decided that the following slipups have contributed to my problem:
1) not exercising as religiously as I had been
2) eating out
3) the bread basket
4) letting my "triggers" get me (cheese, chocolate, chips)
5) looking so much better than I DID look before that I haven't been dissatisfied enough to really be motivated as I once was
6) liking the new clothes that I bought and not being motivated enough to want newer smaller ones
7) job stresses
8) family stresses
9) losing focus
10) going back to putting everyone else first

Good luck on eventually hitting 199! I hope my list gives you some things to think about that might help you consider things that have been getting in YOUR way!

Cheryl
