Default Time to recommit and refocus

Okay the time has come for me to get serious again. The last couple of months have been really tough.
So I'm here now making a new commitment to make this work. I felt that I need to share this as to hopefully add some accountabilty to the mix.
I am 6.5 months into my journey and really in a rut.
So today I have decided to start over. A fresh start, a new beginning. Whatever you want to call it.

So I began this morning by writing down a few things to try and get me back on track.

Why do you want to lose weight?
1. I want to be able to keep up with my daughter (2.5 )
2. I want to feel better, have more energy. Not be so tired all the time.
3. I no longer want to known as the FAT wife, mom, friend, co-worker, etc
4. I want to look more polished and professional for my job. (I am a corporate training specialist for a mortgage company.)

What do you plan to do to lose weight?
1. Calorie counting (1500 a day or less)
2. Exercise (5xs a week)
3. Eat less processed food
4. Be a regular at 3FC, don't be shy to ask for suggestions and support from others that have been in your shoes.

Things I need to cut out or limit. There are some things that are trigger foods for me, so I have decided to cut them out completely or limit them a great deal.

Cut out Limit
Fast food pasta
pop potatoes
candy fried foods
white bread cookies/cake

I have also decided to change my goal weight. I think my expectation has been too high and I always manage to sabbotage myself. For the past 6 months I have spent more time focusing on how much I still have to lose instead of how much I have lost so far. This time I am taking it 10lbs at a time. I have seen others on this site try it and it has seem to work. My new goal is 175 with no particular time frame in which to lose it. Once I reach that goal I will then reevaluate things again and see where I want to go from there. Right now that just seems a little more obtainable.

I can do this and I won't give up.

This sounds like a really sensible, straightforward plan. I also find that not setting a specific date by which I want to have lost X amount of weight works best for me.

The one thing I would add is that when I restarted after having maintained for a long while (I still needed to lose more), I found it easier to start with just one of the changes I knew I needed to make and build on that. I know, however, that some people do better by jumping back in "whole hog" so of course, you need to do whatever works for you.

Hey there! Your reasons for losing are the same as mine! I think its great that you've formally "recommitted". You've already lost 30 lbs! That's wonderful! I can't wait to get to where you're only starting right now!

I know exactly what you mean about not feeling polished at work. I feel that way sometimes too, however, you can be polished at any size-- its a matter of confidence. I've just learned to pretend that I look beautiful and polished. My confidence spikes right up and that in turn motivates the **** out of me to keep on moving right along.

I also get tired of being the heaviest person in a room. The fat mom and wife. But these are all things that can be fixed and I tell myself, "look now people because the next time ya see me, it aint gonna be da same"! Getting your mind in the game is half the battle you know?

You can do it. We all can!

Sounds like you have an excellent plan!

When I first started my weight loss journey, I wanted to lose the weight by a certain time. When I didn't, I felt down and like I failed. Then, like you, I looked at how far I'd come and decided, hey, I'm going to get older no matter what, the months are going to go by anyway, so if I stick with it, I'll get there sometime. And I'm almost there! I am happy, however, that it's taken me less time to lose 93 lbs. than it did to get my Bachelor's Degree (13 years). Persistence works!!

Congrats on making a new resolution! Your plan sounds so sensible that I'm sure you're gonna stick with it and see success. Ten pounds at a time is very cool -- after all, Rome wasn't built in a day, and none of us got fat overnight. Slow and steady is better than going too fast, getting burnt out/hitting a plateau, and seeing no results at all. You've got a great plan; don't forget to check in and let us know how you're coming along :

I've had to rejig my goals too. I set the 140lb goal when my weight was whizzing down, and then it stopped. It's not easy doing this, thinking about it, working at it day after day after day. I think we all need times when we recommit, and also times when we need to have a little breather.

Keep us posted, and ask for help and advice when you need it!!!

Here here! I'm with you all the way. I gotten off track in August and managed to lose then gain. Let's all catch the new wagon coming and walk on like nothing happened. Things happen and at least we are doing something about it! I think I'm going to do a ten pound goal soon. I've always seemed to like them better. Sounds like you have a good plan!

Something else that was posted here that rang with me was this: Try writing down all your obstacles and think of and write strategies to overcome these obstacles.

Oh, and make a master plan of foods you like to eat (on plan). The variety will suprise you and it will help you rotate your diet when you start to get bored.
