Default Eggs for breakfast

I've been reading that we have been duped into thinking eggs are bad for us. It turns out that an egg a day is not going to harm your cholesterol. Don't you hate how they are always coming out with something different that's going to kill you. I guess that is why I stick to my motto everything in moderation.

The reason I bring this up is because I read an article in Men's Health that said if you eat an egg for breakfast it will stick with you a lot longer and keep you satisfied. Well sure enough. I traded in my bowl of Kashi which is expensive anyway, and started eating an egg sandwich in the morning. I stay full much longer. So now instead of spending 2.42 a day on breakfast for both of us we now spend 1.14 and that is a little higher because I choose to buy organic cage free eggs.

I agree with you Howie. I find that eggs are the only thing that keep me full in the morning, I think due to the high protein.

Yes it is the high protein. I just fry my egg in a non stick skillet with a little cooking spray. Then put it on toast with about a 1/2 ounce cheese.

You are totaly right. I found that I am able to get to lunch without feeling "starved" before hand when I eat eggs.

I love to make myself a kind of sandwich like we can get at . I found this little container that can be microwaved that is the perfect size for an english muffin and I just "fill" it up with lettuce, tomatoes and a low fat (or fat free) slice of cheese. It's quick, easy and can be done at work if , like me, you have to eat at the office.

Every morning I have either two pieces of toast or an english muffin with a boiled egg. I use spray butter on my bread and sometimes a little jam. I have found that this protien and carb is the only thing that keeps me from getting hungry between breakfast and lunch.

We do the egg McMuffin thing sometimes too. I get the canadian bacon and english muffins. Fry my egg as I said above along with the bacon and then add the cheese. It comes in at 20 calories less than McDonalds which is 290 calories.

Protein keeps you fuller longer, but so does fiber. One thing that has helped me is to drink fiber in the morning (sugar free metamucil or plain psyllium husk powder) disolved in a glass of water. Lately though, I've been making protein shakes (protein powder, water, some fruit) and adding my fiber to them. It is a lifesaver.

I love having a fried egg sandwich in the morning...and have noticed that I'm not hungry at the time I'd normally get hungry if I eat something else.I use "Move over butter" though(half of a serving),so I feel like I'm getting an extra treat, lol.

I love egg frittatas.

I use a muffin pan. Spray with non-stick spray. Fill each cup with veggies, lowfat cheeses, herbs, etc. Fill about 1/2 with egg beaters. Cook at 350 for about 20 minutes. They make great individual servings for the whole week. Just reheat in the microwave.

I too love eggs and they do tide me over. I like to make an egg/egg white omelet. I will take one whole egg and 3 eggwhites (i just dump the other yolks) and then add sometimes just cheese and other times load it up with some deli ham and cut up veggies. This is probably the most filling breakfast I can have.

Now that I have gestational diabetes cereal and milk is out for me totally. It sends my blood sugar levels way too high and I try to have eggs and toast or the above-mentioned omelet when I'm home. If I'm out and about I'll get a meat, egg, and cheese biscuit and only eat half the biscuit.

I am always on the lookout for alternate breakfasts because cereal and milk just doesn't cut it with me. I try to alternate egg beaters with real eggs just so that if there is any "damage" to be done it will be reduced at least a bit.

One of my fave breakfasts is yogurt with a 1/2 oz serving of nuts and a banana.

Oh, I couldn't live without my eggs! They are cheap, easy, fast...it just doesn't get any better than that! I usually use 1 whole egg and two egg whites - it makes a huge omelette or a lot of scrambled eggs for so few calories.
