Is there a thread where we share what we eat everyday? I like to get new ideas from people, or if my diet is "off" I'd like advice!
Here's today's food..
B~Peach and strawberry smoothie (frozen peaches, strawberries and mixed berry lite yogurt)
SN~1/2 Atkins' Bar (halved w/ my 2yr old)
L~Gardenburger meatball and penne meal (was 300 calories), small salad w/ lettuce, red cabbage, cherry tomatoes, carrots and broccoli..lite ranch
SN~small chunk of cheese
D~Big dinner salad..lettuce, cherry tomato, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, shredded cheese and those fake bacon bits, lite ranch
It is really hard for me to eat variety because I don't eat red meat and poultry. But here goes
Breakfast: 2 packs of whole wheat instant oatmeal, 1 banana
Lunch: 2 garden veggie hamburgers , 1 whole wheat bun, Pickled onions and cabbage and a bowl of drained , lite apricots( from a can).
snack : 1 tsp. cashew butter with 1 banana.
Dinner: 1 bakes sweet potato, and 2 tbs of hummus and some pico de gallo, maybe( I haven't decided on dinner yet).
You'll get lots of support from the great folks who post on the Journal Buddy thread. The thing I noticed about your menus is that you're lacking protein. How about fish, ff or lf cottage cheese and eggs or egg whites if you don't eat poultry or red meat? You can add egg whites to oatmeal (there's a recipe on the Ladies Who Lift forum, I believe) to make your oatmeal packed with protein. Also, be sure and get some healthy oils in.
And, in answer to your question, here's what I'm eating today:
Before Workout Snack
2 egg whites stuffed w/ 1 Tbl. hummus & 5 green olives
Fiber One muffin
Breakfast
2.5 oz. canned salmon
75 g fiber one cereal w/ 1/4 c nonfat milk
Lunch
veggie burger
2 slices Sara Lee Delightful Wheat bread
ff mayo, ketchup, mustard, pickle, lettuce, tomato, onion
1 orange
1 sugar-free caramel pudding cup
So far, I have had a decent day today, but there is still dinner to consider and hubby is cooking....
B-Cup of cereal dampened with milk, one slice oatmeal toast with light butter and carb smart peanut butter
Snack-1 South Beach bar, one small apple
lunch-Lean Cuisine pizza (and it was gooooood)
I just bought natural peanut butter to try...does anyone have any options on it?
I'll post what I've eaten but I'm pretty snacky so here goes -
B - 1/2 cup grapenuts, 1/2 cup no sugar added soymilk
S1 - banana, 2 hard boiled eggs
S2 - Salad w/fruit (1 cup lettuce, 1/2 apple, ~10 grapes, ~20 raisins, ~10 walnut pieces, 1 tbsp nonfat plain yogurt, 1/2 tbsp lowfat mayo)
L - Tuna salad wrap and a salad (1 cup lettuce, 1/4 tomato, 8 sliced baby carrots, 5 mushroom slices, 1/4 chopped red pepper, 2 chopped radishes, 1 tbsp lowfat dressing)
S3 (coming up soon) - 15 baby carrots, 2 radishes
D - Curry Turkey Burgers (cooked on foreman grill), raw beet/carrot salad, mashed potatoes w/ leeks (probably 1/2 portion if gym night)
S4 - If gym night, remaining 1/2 portion of dinner. If not, no sugar added chocolate pudding (snack pack size)
I eat a lot, I tend to have I guess 7 mini meals. I'm actually in the process of cutting down my snacks. Even though they are fairly healthy, they still add calories.
