Water Drinking Goal
What is your goal for daily water intake? How did you decide on that?
I have had 64 ounces so far today and I am thinking that might make a good daily goal. Does that seem reasonable? Is that enough?
I am new and just starting to put together my plan so any advice is great -- thanks!

I am sooooooooo bad at the water thing. I am aiming for 8 cups (no idea what that is in ounces) and did 12 today. I had no coffee, so I was really pleased with that. Now I just have to repeat that feat 6 times a week, 4 weeks a month etc etc.
I need nagging or something!

I don't have a water goal because I generally drink between 64 oz. to 1 1/2 gallons a day depending on my thirst. I try to drink water throughout the day and then I do have pop or tea with my meals.

I drink at least 3 liters of water a day. I don't know how much that is in ounces or cups though.

I aim for a minimum of 2 litres of water, which is roughly 67 ounces or just over 8 cups. I usually drink closer to 2½ or even 3 litres though, plus I take coffee, tea, and a bit of milk too.
I find this amount is about right for me and is no chore. I don't believe in forcing water down if I don't feel like it.

I take my current weight 181 devide it by 2 (181/2=90) so I aim for 90 ounces of water per day. But I am happy with anything over 65oz. See using your weight, you never really go under the recommended amount....my goal is 155 so 155/2=77 so that is still plenty over. Plus if you have a lower goal it works for almost all weights down to 125lbs.

I shoot for 128 oz and always get at least 96 oz. 64 is a great start and if that's all you can do I would not worry about it. They do say you should drink more than the recommended 64 if you are over weight. I know a lot of people just can't do it. I have always liked water so it's never been a problem for me. I truly believe that my water intake is one of the big reasons I've never hit a major plateau.

I know I'll be in the minority on this one, but I don't pay particular attention to my water intake. I drink it while I'm working out and often at meals but I never get a glass for the sake of meeting a particular quota. I don't like how I feel when I have too much - all that sloshing around. Plus, in the beginning, it was just one more thing that I felt guilty about if I didn't meet my goal. So, I stopped worrying about it. As long as my urine isn't too dark and I'm not thirsty throughout the day then I know I'm getting plenty via foods and various beverages. The only time that I make a point to drink water between meals is if I'm bloated for some reason (high sodium meal, TOM, travel, etc.). It helps me when I'm retaining water but has never had any real impact on my weight loss.

Thanks everyone! This is all helpful information. I do not want to make myself too crazy about the water -- I just happen to have a big water jug that is 32 ounces, and today I drank two jugs full w/o really having to think about it. So, that's a good thing I guess. If I get more than that some days it'll just be a bonus! wooohooo!

Drinking water has never been a strong point for me. I'm finishing up my 37th oz. for today, and that is all I've had to drink.
64 oz. a day is my goal.

I just drink the stuff, I have no idea how much though. During the week water is pretty much the only thing I drink (at the weekend I add alcohol ) because I don't drink hot drinks very often and have never liked coke and drinks like that. So it's water all the way. I know I get enough, but I don't know how much that is exactly!

I have always had trouble getting my water in (to much of a soft drink junkie), so it is definately one of my goals every day to try for 64 oz (or 8 cups). I do find when I am consistant with drinking water everyday (consistant being the operative word) if I slip a little, the water more than makes up for it. I also notice a big change in my skin when I am drinking my water. The complexion is a lot brighter and my *ahem* acne clears up.

I think during the summer I drink water more naturally. I have a harder time getting my water in during the winter months. Come to think of it everything is harder during the winter! Have I mentioned I hate the winter! Grrrr!

1c = 8oz = 30 ml or cc
I try to drink about 64 oz a day but I have been kind of slacking on paying attention to my water intake. I know it is important but it is so hard to force myself to drink it.
Howie- How much more H2O if overweight? Is there a formula based on body weight?

Your supposed to get 8oz per 20-25lbs "extra" your carrying around. So:
150 (ideal weight) = 64oz per day
200 (your weight) = 16oz extra to add per day for extra weight
total intake of water for day should be 80 oz of water.
