I had one of those brownies. Girl, they were dry and not the chewy good kind but that dumb cake-like kind. They weren't chocolately enough and they totally had that funky made-in-someone-elses-house taste that really didn't sit right with me at all. I mean, I felt sick the rest of the day and now, that sugar rush is over I'm totally miserable and cravingy more naughty food. Agh. I totally wish I would have never even eaten one.
I've been running into that lately, too. I've been trying to actually cook dinner for the family at least twice a week. With Gem's help. ((she'll be 5 in April)) She's a VERY picky eater, so I try to make at least one thing each meal that she may like. So this past week it was Sweet Corn Cake (like you get at Chi-chis or El torito). This week, it's oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. The chicken we're making tonight is glazed with apple butter, and served with cheese grits. At least the recipe is from Cooking Light, so it's not too bad. But still.
I'm using much more brown sugar and sugar than suits my taste. If she puts it into the red cabbage, she may actually try it. (no luck there) Tonight we'll try the same trick with baked squash. Brown sugar and butter. See if she'll at least take a nibble once it's made.
My husband doesn't mind. He's a Southern boy, and likes his ham and chicken with sweet glazes. I never got used to them. HTey're not bad.. they just are kinda weird to my taste. *sighs*
Anyway, I understand fully the temptation fairy. I love the all-the-chocolate-in-the-world strategy. I may try that one next time. Now that the Hallowe'en basket is empty of the candy bars and only has hard cadies and such, I'm not as tempted. But with holiday baking coming upon us, we'll be seeing more and more temptations at work and home.
Imagine them covered with vomit or diesel or something really nasty.
Honestly thats not far from what I do sometimes. I think of all the other people sticking there hands in there to get a brownie or whatever. All these people who probably never wash their hands, yuck!
Way to go, Sandi!! Hope things are going well this weekend, too.
Victoria, I think I saw a news story about the germs in an open bowl of candy or whatever from people sticking their hands in to grab a handful. Now everytime I see an open bowl, I, too, think about what I could be putting in my mouth along with the goodies. No, thanks!!
