  • that if I wait until after the holiday to get back on plan I may not. So I'm 100% back on plan today. I think I will even try to stay on plan Christmas Eve and Christmas day. I've had so many treats that I feel lousy and know I have probably gained 10 pounds. I'm not weighing until after the first of the year though.

My mood has already changed today from being depressed to feeling much better.
  • Good for you. The fact that you feel better is the sign that you're doing the right thing.

I know what you mean about all the treats making you feel lousy ... I know that when Thanksgiving weekend was over I was GLAD to get back home and get back to my healthy routine.
  • Howie,I know what you mean. I have to cook all this stuff and then watch others stuff themselves. I've been pretty good about not going to far off the deep end but X-mas day is coming.
  • Howie,

I know exactly how you feel... And GOOD FOR YOU for making this step now.. I'm not so confident unfortunately as there's just way too much food around right now. However, I've made a little action plan for myself for the New Year and come Jan 3rd.. its the BIG day... I plan on finally kicking all this weight right in the butt once and for all....

2005 is to be a "get healthy" year for me... My goals for the upcoming year include eating healthy, being more active and to quit smoking.

Again Howie, good for you! You're doing such a fantastic thing and I'm so proud of you!

    Merry Christmas,
    Celina
  • Ditto on feeling like crap because of too many treats. I have pigged out on candy til I am practically sick.
  • Howie, big props to you for taking the plunge! How about a challenge? I "restarted" as of yesterday and no major disasters yet... sure Christmas is going to be a big day, and maybe New Years, but it's great that you're not just waiting. Don't get down on yourself, it's a process, right?

Celina! I see you posted, what's been up, muffin?
  • Howie, it's great to hear that you are starting now. No better time than the present. I think we all know when we are getting close to no return, so great job on recognizing that and acting on it. I'm glad that you are feeling much better now.
  • Good for you Howie!! Why wait for Spring/New Year do it now! Try to make good food choices with bites of treats and life goes on...
  • Way to go Howie!! I wish I was strong like you. I'm not doing horrible, but I have not been as good as I could be either.
  • Thanks for all the support everyone. I just felt my pants getting tight and it is making me sick to think how hard I worked to get in these pants. I'll be darned if I'm going to go back.

Your on for the challenge Dana. I'm going to enjoy my family and not make Christmas all about the food.
  • Howie...
Good for you getting back on plan NOW! Holiday celebrations aren't worth risking your health and peace of mind. You've come so far-with your attitude you'll be at your goal soon!
  • Way to go Howie on spotting the gain, however small, before it go to be a problem. Keep up the good work. You've come this far, I have complete faith that you will continue to do great until the end. Happy Holidays
  • Good move for you refocusing on clean eating habits. I sure can hear you on this as i've had countless "social" temptations within past week. I turned down most of them. It was hard because they've involve people i really appreciate.

I beleive that we should select one or two very important occasions in which we may eat a little more. Christmas eve at my parents place for instance will be one them; and in fact probably the only one.

And by the way, have very nice holidays
  • Yay Howie!!! I'm so proud of you for nipping it in the bud before it got out of control!!! Part of maintenance, they say, is setting a weight limit for yourself and then responding when your weight has hit that weight -- like that upper 5 lb. wiggle-room zone, for example -- and Howie, it sounds like you've just proven you're capable of the right responses. Noone's perfect, the key is that our responses are healthy ones, as we're learning more and more about our triggers.

I'm proud of you, my friend.
  • Thanks all I had a pretty good two days the last two days but today was the big family get together and I did not do good. I'm right back at it though. Going to come alive in 05 and kick this thing in A$$.
