Okay, I know I need to watch what I eat. Less of fats and sugars ect... more of veggies and water ect...
But how? It's so hard to eat right, when you have other things against you. ex. stress eater depressed eater that sort of thing. And, it costs so much more to eat healthy then not. No, I'm not making excusses, it's a fact. This time of year, money is tighter then normal. It's far more cheaper to buy 5 pizza's for $10 ect... Must Eat Better!
Bad Tina, Very Bad Tina! Since joining, I haven't been on but a few times. Why? I don't know!
I need something, to tell me what is okay to eat and what's not. I'm not talking no fat yes veggies. I mean like... no pizza ever and yes lettuce, that sort of thing. Can anyone help me?
Tredmill. We have one. My husband is on three times a day (He also only works weekends) and I haven't been on in over a month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why, when it's right next to me, can I not get on it? I don't know.
Maybe I'm lazy, yup that's it.
No this is not a pitty party, well mabye it is. I just need to type, that's it, type and type and maybe lifes misseries will go away. And maybe I can leanr to type better and spell correctly to!
I just wanted to say to hang in there. Take one day, one moment at a time if you have to. Some of the others here have suggested just making small changes at a time. I haven't been very successful yet, but I know I just have to keep trying. You can do this. Coming here like you did today and typing was a good thing to do. Keep coming here ~ we are here for you.
One day at a time ~ never giving up!!
Nobody can force you to have a certain attitude. But life will go so much better if you will simply choose to be positive. When you wake up, choose to be happy. Choose to be grateful for the day. (Joel Osteen)
It's so much easier to be told what to do, and what NOT to do, isn't it? And I love love to boss people around.... lol For me it feels unrealistic to lose weight during the christmas season, and I can fully accept that. However, since you DO have a treadmill, USE IT, or I will come over and steal it from you, k? And think, you can eat more calories and maintain if you are working out, bad bad way of thinking! Try taking a multivitamin, it's a good start and will help replace some of those vitamins which get depleted from stress. It's so much easier to be lazy... infact, I'm supposed to be out hiking right now... and I'm typing online... drinking an eggnog latte... so maybe don't take my advice..
Hang in there!!
I feel your pain- believe me. It could have been me writing that post. I get financial aid to go to school and it doesn't get here until Jan so I have limited funds. Keep this in mind though- bad food is cheaper but you need less good food to be just as full. Fast food and junk food don't really give you any of the vitamins and such that your body is craving. I know- if your body is like mine I swear it screams for junk food.
As for exercise- I am just as bad. I have a gym membership and can walk in my neighborhood- cripes! I live in Florida I can walk year round. If you can get yourself on that treadmill for two weeks straight I promise you will become a junkie and want to walk. The first two weeks are the worst so make sure when you make two weeks you give yourself some kind of reward. New book, bubble bath, etc. Whatever inspires you. Heck, when you make it two weeks and I will send you something myself.
Good luck and keep posting!
I too am in the same boat. I had made my plan, excited about starting it, did great for 3 days. Fell hard off the wagon. Again it's still on my mind to get back to it. Each morning I wake up and say today is the day. Mouth and mind need to get together to order good food when eating out!!! I ate both lunch and dinner out today and ordered bad bad food. I have to keep telling myself there are no excuses not to do this no matter when the day or time of day. I am just making small changes, but big excuses to not do it!! I can't give everything up at once.
Just keep plugging away at it. It will come so easy before you know it.
THanks so much. I was having a 'breakdown' when I wrote this. I'm feeling a little better now, am up late and working on my web page
THanks agian. It helps so much getting encouraging words from you 'guys'. ~Tina
The key is PLANNING! There are healthier and cheaper alternatives... however, it takes a lot of planning in advance to know what to get from the grocery store. Its also very hard this time of year, as its when you crave heavier foods rather than fresh fruits and veggies. Its also super hard when all those fresh things are super expensive.. I'm trying my best but am also in the same boat. Its just much easier this time of year to not have to worry about what we're eating but then again, we're all here for a lifestyle change and if we can get through the winter/holiday season eating much better (i'm not saying being perfect) then the spring and summer will be a piece of cake. Again, BABY STEPS are key... choose a diet soda instead of regular, drink more water.. take the stairs rather than elevator.. Do whatever works for you!
I think also that eating healthier is way more expensive. Not only did I change what I was eating I changed how my whole family eats. It has become so hard. Today my husband and I were discussing how tight things were going to be this coming payday, and my first thought was, "Dang, I'm gonna have to give up some of my healthy foods for us to make it." That scares me. I shop for a family of five so it's not easy. We can share the same boat on this issue. I'm glad I could share that because it really stresses me alot.
Tina, you just need some motivation. Getting going is the hardest. Just suck it up and tell yourself you are going to do just a little bit each day. Start that way. Don't get to overwhelmed about doing alot of exercise at once. You have already lost 12 lbs!! You are off to a great start. It will all work out. One day at a time.
If you learn from your suffering, and really come to understand the lesson you were taught, you might be able to help someone else who's now in the phase you may have just completed. Maybe that's what it's all about after all...

I have found a really helpfull frozen entree called "Budget Gormet" that comes in a wide selection and are only a 1.00$ or less. Most are only 280 cals or less and I'll have one of these with a cup of veg for dinner. For breakfast I have a packet of flavored oatmeal with a little skim milk and of course coffee. This comes to about 195 cals and is very cheap. Lunch is the most costly. I buy "Sara Lee" low cal bread,(45 cals a slice), about 3.00$ a loaf,5 slices chipped beef or turkey,(50 cals),1 slice "Smart Beat" cheese,25 cals) and musterd instead of mayonaze. With this I have a low cal yogurt,(90 cals). If I get hungry in between meals I have some unsweetened apple sauce and if I've been good at the end of the day I give myself a treat like a low cal fudge cycle or a couple low cal cookies. This has been very inexpensive to maintain. I supplement with vitamons and calcium. I've been able to lose 50lbs sence Aug this way.
