Knew an adult that had them out. A lot of pain, longer time than average child to recoup but no complications, but still had other infections.
My only question would be, considering what they do, why does the doctor feel they should come out now? I was told when I was a child that I should have them out and my mother never allowed it. As I got older (late teens), I had strep throat almost every year. The doctor at that time said the only thing that was keeping it from getting any worse were my tonsils. I'm glad I never had them out. I'm 44. For every doctor that says they should come out there's probably another that would say they shouldn't.
