Yeah a lot of principles of my personal diet are in that article. Even though I follow a diet that isn't concerned about calories, I do monitor my portions, make sure I get enough fiber, drink a lot of water, eat lots of veggies and occassionally do a calorie check where I'll count my calories for a day or two.

A lot of this is stuff I live by.. although I do still count calories on a daily basis!
