Scotsgal a huge congratulations on being down 50 pounds!
Nichelle sounds like you are lining up a great week ahead. Good for you for not letting this week get to you and moving forward.
curvynotlumpy we are in the middle of evaluating our 114 employees right now and from year to year, each manager sometimes doesn't always evaluate the same employees. So I read through previous evaluations to get a feel for what was said and I'm amazed at how different each colleague's evaluation style is different from the other. Hope you can fill that position soon.
Well the month is almost done and no real change for me. Until I truly make a change in all aspects of my life and not just food, I know I won't see anymore significant drop. Between knowing and doing, that's the problem for me. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
I am office bound this Sunday morning with a plan to work on updating part of our unit's web site. When the economic downturn happened in '08 our university developed a set of cost cutting measures. One was to move specialists out of individual units and centralize them. This included IT folks and business folks. It may have saved money but it has caused numerous within departments and units as we (non-IT or business managers) have had to pick up a chunk of this work. Weight remains the same and I don't see it changing much in the next few days with TOM sticking around.
Martine: "Well the month is almost done and no real change for me. Until I truly make a change in all aspects of my life and not just food, I know I won't see anymore significant drop. Between knowing and doing, that's the problem for me."
^^^^THIS! I have nothing to add because I could not have stated it better. What will it take for me to get over the hump or what will be my wake-up call? What's interesting is that I rack up nearly 40 miles of steps every week. I think this is why I've been able to maintain my current weight. If I were to get my diet under control I believe I'd see progress. And lack of remains an ongoing issue. It's a vicious cycle.
Nichelle: on completing your training and with the opening of the hotel and this big step in your life! Sounds like you've done a great deal of food planning and prep to help you stay on track.
Lisi: Great job avoiding sweets and eating good food. What did you think of Monster-in-Law? Jennifer Lopez was the subject of one of my chapters in my dissertation but this wasn't one of her performances I wrote about. She was making so many movies in the early '00s that I couldn't included everything.
opheliaphoenix: getting those steps in! Don't those high number step days make you feel accomplished. Remember, that's a "good sore." Glad your DH might join you as well.
Okay, back to the grind. Wishing everyone a great day!

I forgot to add in my last post that Lent begins this Wednesday. Each year I give up (sometimes try and fail) something. I'm considering refined sugar which is something I've given up in the past. Still thinking about it though.
Scotsgal: AWESOME!!!! That is an amazing milestone! How are you celebrating?
Nichelle: Jealous that you are able to meal plan! That's such a great habit! I am the worst at planning in advance. Even my vacations are all last-minute.
Lisi: Not a big fan of Jennifer Lopez, but for some reason I liked Monster in Law & thought it was hilarious!
Ophelia: love that your DH is going to walk with you! When I go on walks I try to bring my boyfriend b/c I feel like that's one of the few times I get to see him/talk to him with his crazy schedule. Otherwise, it's podcasts all the way for company.
Martine: Sounds like you have a lot on your plate with all those evals! Maybe you can pick something specific to work on for the 40 days of Lent (even if you're not Catholic, it gives a defined time frame)?
Laura: Keep going! You're rocking Feb!
Curvy: Refined sugar sounds tough to cut out of your diet. How do you know what has refined sugar in it?
Curvy - This year I'm giving up my gallbladder for Lent. My big weight loss of 2010-2011 started with Lent and giving up junk food - that weaned me off sugar and got me off to a great start and I just kept going. (I wish I'd never turned around and come back out of Onederland...). Giving up refined sugar is hard but a very healthy step....
MISSxCINA - Welcome to 3FC!!!
Scotsgal - 50 pounds down! Way to go!!!
howdytx - looks like you haven't bounced out of Onederland - congratulations! I remember going back and forth across that mystical divide for a week or two. Very frustrating at the time.
Saturday I finished moving wood down to the rack in the house and the one right outside the front door. All pieces that are easy to lift and not too heavy. My wonky funky gallbladder is getting the ol' heave ho on Thursday and I can't go lugging big armloads of wood for a week or two. So I made the most of our record breaking warm spell (70!) on Saturday to get that all organized. Then I woke up Sunday morning to a couple inches of snow.... But the wood is stacked and covered and that's all that matters.
I didn't remember to weigh myself first thing Saturday morning so my loss this week isn't much. But any loss is a good loss...
I started walking from Bag End to Rivendell on 5 February, 2017
Day 1: 2.2. miles walked, 2.2 miles total – leaving Hobbiton and following the hedgerows south…
...
Day 19: 3.7 miles walked, 58.9 miles total – The Marish
Day 20: 1.9 miles walked, 60.8 miles total – Approaching Farmer Maggot’s fields
Day 21: 1.0 miles walked, 61.8 miles total – near a stout gate to a rutted lane
Day 22: 3.2 miles walked, 65.0 miles total – Farmer Maggot’s lane meets the Causeway to Buckleberry Ferry
Better habit goals: log food as I eat it (yes!), get down to no more than one sweet a week (yes, but backslid), exercise twice a week (yes!)
Keeping the sweets down around TOM is definitely harder than the rest of the time but at least I can see that I'm doing better than last month. I think the little bump up is mostly TOM but we'll see... I've also been eating a lot of (salty) chicken soup to see if I can get rid of this cold...
Monday already starting off busy so I'm glad I put some time in this weekend. Good question regarding refined sugars, howdytx. There are different ways a person can account for sugar in their diet and for me it's going to be cutting out sweets for Lent. I know that there is hidden sugar in so many, many things, but my downfall is . Why eat one cookie when I can eat four?! While fresh fruit has sugar it is natural to the food, not an additive. I won't count that as fruit has never been my downfall. Some folks do though. And some look at all sugars in food. The last time I was succeeding at weight loss I had cut refined sugar to a minimum. I had dessert once a week and it was an actual single portion (imagine that) Vladadog, I completely with you about regrets leaving onederland. In addition to weight loss, I seemed to lose my cravings for sweets and my taste buds "woke" up. Food never tasted so good or vibrant!
Vivvian: to your better habit goals!
MISSxCINA: Here's to new beginnings! You got this!

curvynotlumpy: Best of luck with the web site update and on commiting to giving up sweets for Lent!
MISSxCINA: Welcome!
howdytx: He did go with me that first night, but I had our middle child with me yesterday because my husband's ankle was bothering him too much last night. (He's had Achilles tendon surgery and bone calcification removal on his left heel twice, once in the fall of 2015 and then again this last October. He still has a lot of pain there, so we are trying to work him up on it now but still have to take it easy.) If the rain lets up, I am hoping he might come with me again tonight...otherwise, I may have to try some podcasts, too!
Vladadog: Glad you took the opportunity to move the wood while you had the chance before having your gallbladder removed, so you can take it easy and rest after the procedure!
Vivvian: Feel better soon!

Forgot to make a post yesterday, but my weigh-in for both yesterday and today was 258.4...so, it's going to be a slower week overall, but it is still on-target progress. I've been consistent with everything but my water this week, which I've really struggled with. I got 16 in yesterday and only 12 in the day before. So, more than anything, trying to get back on plan with my water is my main focus for today. And, hopefully, I can get one more little drop on the scale for tomorrow before the month ends!

Good Tuesday morning! Last day of February and ending it at the exact same weight I started. Could've been worse, should've been better. Hope everyone will have a great day!
Curvynotlumpy thanks! I'm really excited about the job at the hotel! I've talked to the owner a few time about my goals working my way up to hotel management and he told me we can work towards that and if I'm interested he'll even teach me stuff about franchise owning
howdytx I need to meal plan. I feel in control that way...lol. I'm trying to calorie count (which I've never done before) so I figure if I can roughly know how many calories my dinner is I could then know if I should eat lighter/heavier meals during the day... like if I know my dinner will be on the higher calorie side to have a not so heavy lunch.
With my bad eating last week and I bit my overall weight lose is only 2.2lbs. But I'm okay with that. I'll be better this coming month.
I have worked on my water and I'm drinking roughly 3lt a day.
I've met my 10,000+ step goal all but 5 days this month.
Hope you all a lovely day 😘
Making my final post for overview before moving over to the March thread. I lost 14 lbs even for the month of February. See you guys on the new post!
