Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. Looking forward to another 3km walk with hubby and the dog today, as well as trying a new workout.

1: 236.2
2: 235.8

ETA: I thought I was getting better at working out, but new workout proved otherwise (or how I cannot do a push-up or plank to save my life)

Oy up a pound which is a bummer when all you are eating is your prescribed shakes!

@Rennie: Oh, how I wish I did have diet tips that I could pass along! I suspect that what led to weight loss in July was planning meals instead of going for the quick fix or junk, a much needed vacation that led to reduced stress, and increased dissatisfaction with how I look and feel. This isn't the first time all of these things have converged for me so when I write that I'm wary of any weight loss, it is because I'm wondering when the train will jump the track yet again.

@Martine: I went to a turbo kick class (where I've been MIA for well over a year) and near the end we do an ab section. At 143 lbs, I was a planking machine At 205 pounds, I feel like I'm trying to hold up the world Oh, well, we have to start somewhere. Kudos to you and all of us who continue to challenge and expand our physical limits.

Thanks for the welcome, love2b150! This group seems like a great place to be!
The diet I am following is The New Weigh plan. As far as I can tell, it's local, although there are several offices in our area. Basically, it's 1200 calories/day and focuses on portion control. It doesn't cut out any food groups, but restricts carbs and sugars. Each day, I get 8 oz of protein, 4 servings (1 cup raw, 1/2 c cooked) of vegetables, 2 servings of fruit, and 3 starches. I am planning on limiting my starches to the starchy veggies, like corn, potatoes and peas. That's just a personal choice, but I know that any type of bread/pasta/rice, etc. is my weakness and I should steer clear. There are also 3 protein snacks/day (drinks, bars, or chips) that I buy from my center. It's going fairly well, although I did have a headache for the first couple of days as my body adjusted to the change in sugar and carb intake. I did Ideal Protein for 7 months a few years ago, and lost like crazy, but couldn't maintain it. I'm hoping that is a less radical approach that will help me in the long run!

redkorn to the thread I hope to make this month count also, we can do this

Martine, I can't do push ups either, and I have never tried to do a plank. So GOOD JOB for even trying

HaveDogWillDiet sorry about the up I'm gonna try a similar eating plan starting on Wednesday. I have to clear out my fridge first of things I've cooked/prepared. Too many mouths to feed to through food away and some of it they won't eat Just keep reminding yourself that this has got to pay off, because you are doing what you are supposed to do. Your whoosh is coming

Curvy, planning is key for me also but I don't have the time that I did before. I am really hoping to kick start myself with these shakes. Let's hope it works Seems I spent most of July derailed, hoping to get things back on track this month Nice weigh in today

winning15 Nice loss today

tam67green, your plan sounds good, I hope it works for you. Good for you with the corn, potatoes and peas. I love love all three so that would mean failure for me Go YOU

wundertales good job on the inches loss

Alicia where are you?

Well I didn't do well in July, kind of maintained. I guess that's not bad. I want to start mixing my own shakes in the mornings and for dinner. I will eat a sensible lunch when I get home from work but I will take a prepared shake with me just in case I get super hungry before I get back here. There are a ton of places that I pass on the way home, so it's not good to be hungry Wish me luck. I'm gonna start Wednesday probably. I'll keep you posted

Rennie ~ Good luck if you decide to revisit the fasting for a bit of a kick start! I sleep better than usual when I don't eat an evening meal and have lots of fluids instead. That's one reason the 5:2 didn't seem too scary. For some people their sleep gets messed up while fasting which must make it very hard to stick to (I couldn't).

Kris ~ your loss last month was awesome! How you managed that when you're so busy (!) I don't know! Gotta keep that momentum going. Good luck for another GREAT month.

Lovemylife ~ Wow your body really did respond to the fasting! How are you eating on fasting days...small meals over the whole day or one bigger meal ...or something else?

tam67green ~ Bread, rice and pasta etc is my 'comfort' weakness too...and it's just too easy to eat a big helping. Glad the headaches weren't an on-going problem for you. I had a headache the evening of my first fast day, but none since.

curvynotlumpy ~ Hmmm, you're getting tantalizingly close to youknowwhaterland there.
....Could be even more tantalizingly close at the other end of August.

Everyone else who's joined the thread - GOOD LUCK. Stay strong! ...And be kind to yourself if you slip.

I weighed (after 2 big glasses of water and a cup of coffee) just shy of another pound less this morning. I was only going to weigh once a week so it was an impulsive sneaky peek (I really thought I might have gained back over the weekend!).
Good to know it's possible to keep losing on 1400 - 1500 over the weekend. I felt full on that and I was able to eat with my family, plus indulge in a small treat on Sunday. I won't count on weekend losses continuing forever, but for now I'll take it as encouragement to help propel me through another week. Fasting today...drinking lots of water....still thinking about how best to incorporate some focused exercise....

Good Evening Everyone I tell you the weekends go so fast these days. Hope everyone's was great and on plan!

Rennie: I also exercise daily in addition to the 4:3. My exercise usually consist of 30 minutes on the elliptical and 30 minutes of aerobics. Or sometimes I will hit the track and walk 3 miles, just depends on my mood. I do make sure to get exercise in everyday during the week. I don't exercise on the weekends, I give myself a break.

Sunshinie: My fast days are M,W &F. The calories on the fast days are limited to only 500. So, I will have an EAS Protein shake around 1p.m. and then eat dinner around 5p.m, which is usually a salad with some type of protein that totals 400 calories. Then I'm done for the day.

For the last two weeks I haven't eaten anything after 5:30p.m. It was rough at first but now my body is us to it. I do that on my non fast days as well. On the weekends I do allow myself so wiggle room lol. But the latest I will eat is usually around 7p.m. and then that's it for the night.

So hopefully August will be a good month for me. I just have to stay on plan and drink my water. Good luck to everyone, we have to each other on.

I am so sorry for the late reply Rennie, thank you so much! Are you doing the Leslie Sansone dvd too? I haven't been exercising at all for the past several days, it is not good. I know I could move through these 2-teens more quickly if I commit to exercise, but I just prefer to count calories... I'd love to work out with you, I'll message you later today (or tomorrow at the latest ) and we'll work it out.

Redkorn

redkorn I was back down again today- don't give up by the extra pound. It's just water and natural fluctuation! I was so bummed all day yesterday, which is such a problem with weighing daily. Can't let that dictate the rest of the day.

Monday already? I'm exhausted. I worked my behind off this weekend. I drove from 6 pm Friday to 3:30 am Saturday morning (never made it back out to drive again on Saturday). Watched the grands from 3:30 pm Saturday to 2:30 Sunday morning. Was out driving from 2:30 to 5:30 (which was pretty much wasted time - made $10). Went home and slept for about 5 hours. Drove from 11:00 am to 2:15 pm, watched the grandkids from 3:30 to 10:30 and then drove again. Got home at midnight. Back at my full-time job this morning. I hope I can continue this type of schedule for at least another month - I have no choice because I have until the end of September to come up with an extra $1200. There is absolutely nothing extra in my budget so the driving is my only chance. I wish people would tip, but they don't. I got one tip all weekend - $4. With my daughter's schedule, I may not get any opportunity to drive this week. (Maybe I'll get lucky and someone will give me one of those life-changing tips you read about.)

Thank you everyone for the words of encouragement! I'll try to check back later for personals. Lots of work to do today.

I started an 8-week Healthy Habits Challenge with Scentsy today. It's awesome that Scentsy has a Fit Club to help encourage us to make healthier choices. You might hear about this frequently . . . I earn 1-2 points for every day that I share my goals. Today's goal: Water, water, water!
