Arrow Weightloss essentials

So its been awhile since I've been on the weightloss band wagon and I'm wondering if there are some weightloss essentials people swear by. I'm talking apps, books, supplements and gadgets etc.

My essentials are minimal!
My calorie counting book, I've tried apps but always go back to my book
Weight tracker app, for weigh ins
Nike training app
and thats about it!!

Scale.

Travel scale.

Isoflex protein powder when I have been in a pinch.

Vitamin tablets.

Fish oil (for those rare occassions I do not eat 5-6 portions of fish a day)

Nike+ running watch.

All of my food.

Running shoes.

Gym membership.

Head (sweat) band.

Oh, and a frickin' sense of humor!

Essentials is a tough word. There are lots of things I use, but I don't know that I would call them "essential."

I decided I wanted to run. My knee was bothering me, and it hindered my Couch 2 5K training program, so I bought running shoes.

I decided I needed to lift, so I bought and read The New Rules of Lifting for Women. Now, I am a free weights snob, and I love lifting as much as a few of the men at my gym.

I use apps, like the C25K app and RunTracker, to help me keep on track in running.

I use a scale, though it's a love/hate relationship, and I have had periods of time where I am more successful without it.

This site, ironically, is perhaps my most essential "essential." I go back and forth with eating plans, exercise regimens, etc. But when I desperately wanted to go off plan, I came here to vent, and it saved me more than once. For me, going off plan might be a blip. It also might result in weeks (or months) of lost progress.

Glad to have you here.

Lol yes LaurieDawn essentials is probably the wrong word! I just feel out of the loop when it comes to all the new stuff available now, even in 4 years things have changed so much!

Well, a lot of it is personal. Stuff essential for me is not necessarily essential for anyone else.

The biggest thing I have learnt from this weight loss attempt is that everything is personal. No one-size-fits-all. Which is why I dislike branded diets. You have to make lifestyle choices that work for you. If diet x works for you, then great.

But people should be open to trying a bit of diet x + a bit of diet y if they find that works for them better than just x or just y.

Most essential to me is my food scale and my calorie counting/food tracking app on my iPod.

The other things (running app, music on iPod for runs, fitness DVDs, scale, recipe books, sneakers etc) are nice to have and really helpful but I think I could also be successful without them.

I feel such a fraud. Most people who've lost a lot of weight know every scientific molecule of the food they eat, weigh and measure, and protein supplements and all the right things LOL I just did the ridiculously annoying thing everyone always says "eat less and move more" after dealing mentally with WHY I got/was/stayed so fat

My 'essentials' are only good walking shoes and logging into 3FC pretty much every day, rarely posting these days but always reading and being aware of what's happening.

Trazey, I think that's the true key right there. We all know how to lose weight...it's being in the right frame of mind to no longer be the person with the habits that got us to where we were that is so hard.

Did you ever count calories or do you have any idea how many calories you eat a day now? Somehow, that just seems so easy.
