Back... and hopefully to stay

Not sure if anyone out there remembers me, I used to be a fairly common visitor, but life took a turn and I forgot to use my support here. 1. no longer a Navy wife, the hubby tried to die on me (he survived, thank God) and ended up getting a medical discharge from the Navy. 2. work was not to be found and we have spent most of the last two years living on disability and the blessing of his wonderful parents who have helped us keep a car and a roof and food. 3. These situations have caused massive depression in both myself and hubby and I ended up getting higher than I have ever been, over 300.

Now, hubby has gotten a good job, we are finally done with moving for a while, and due to being sick for the last couple months, I am down 25 lbs. Its not the way I would have preferred to restart my weight loss, but hey, I'll take it. I'm looking forward to being back on here and getting and giving support and making new friends and finding old ones. I'm trying to get myself fit, I have immediate weight loss goals, but no final destination other than being happy and healthy. Already the fog of depression has lifted significantly for both myself and hubby, just the beauty of having income and no longer living on charity, no matter how willingly given, is a beautiful thing.

Thanks in advance for any advice and help, I can't wait to read around and see what I've missed.

I remember you, NavyWife! I had wondered how you were doing. I'm glad to see you back, if only to know you're okay.

I know how it is to leave when life happens, and come back when you need the support again. (look at my join date!) You are always welcome.

I'm so glad to hear things are looking up for you. When you've figured out a plan, even a few simple food changes, let us know so we can cheer you on!

I am sorry to hear about the very tough times you and your husband went through, but I am glad you guys are moving back up to the top and are both wanting to get healthier not only mentally but physically. Welcome back to 3FC!!! You've already made a great start, and congrats on losing 25lbs already!

Welcome back! I'm glad to hear that things are looking up for you and your husband after so many negative blows!

What have you decided on as your plan of action?

There are lots of us re-starters (we've got a whole thread for "re-losers") although not everyone's story is quite as dramatic! I'm so glad your hub is doing ok now, and also that your life is becoming more settled. Glad to have you back with us!!

Welcome Back! You mention that you will hopefully stay. Why just hopeful? Do you think you might be able to pop in once a day- just if to say hello?

Thanks for the warm welcome back! For now the plan of action is a general and slightly gradual overhaul of everyone's eating habits. During our months of moving and time living in a hotel and just lately with being sick, we got in the habit of not eating home cooked meals, so we are cutting back on frozen and fast foods, starting to cook and keep healthy snacks on hand, eating more fruits and veggies and cutting out sodas (which is my big issue). After I get hubby and kiddos used to eating more healthfully and healthier portions again, I will probably tweak my eating and count some calories if I'm not losing. As for exercise, I'm still so weak with whatever is making me ill, I'm lucky if I can walk to the community office and back without dying, but I'm working up to it, and hoping to get back to hiking in the next month or so.
