I have a treadmill! I'm far too broke to join a gym. And I found that when I actually have time to exercise, it's usually the "middle" of the night. (I usually hop on at about 8 or 9. So not smart because I end up with extra energy and then it's 11pm and I'm ready to shop or something.)
At any rate, I've only just started to use it. I set tiny goals for myself. My first goal was to do it at least three times this first week. Which I did. Barely, but I did. My goal for this week is to use it 4 times and walk at least 1/2 mile each time. That doesn't seem like such a goal, but I remind myself that it's further than I walked *last week*.
I walk at a pretty good clip. I aim for 2.5mph to 3.0mph with minimum incline. At this point, it's enough to get the adrenaline going and right now, that's enough to enjoy it.
Hubs bought an iPad for me a while back. We have instant streaming with Nextflix. I made a deal with myself that I'll only watch Burn Notice when I'm on the treadmill. (I love the show. Hubs isn't a fan.)
I look at it this way. It's the one thing that I do strictly for myself. I get a bare minimum of 15 minutes completely ALONE. I'm an introvert and I work with people all day. I desperately need that time that is for me.
Oh, I used to run. I used to run 1/4 mile (once around the track) without thinking twice, barely breaking a sweat. The first time I walked that far on the treadmill, I was huffing and puffing. So, yeah, that was kind of horrible. But I loved running and want to do it again without breaking something.
