Default Exercise - Do you?

I dusted off the old treadmill 3 days ago and have gotten on it once. For 15 minutes. It bummed me out a bit because I used to be a gym rat and it was nothing for me to go for 7 miles without even thinking about it. I enjoyed it. I loved it! I would zone out and think about my day, or nothing at all. Now, blah! I know...I mean I KNOW in my heart if I just stick with it, my treadmill and I will fall in love again, but I'm having trouble getting motivated.

So do any of you exercise? What do you do? How long before you started loving it?

I enjoy being outside more, but my feet never did! I ended up getting an elliptical and I love working out on that. I was able to do 25-30 minutes when I weighed close to 300 before my feet started to hurt. I don't know that I really looked forward to my workouts until a week or two of not letting myself skip them. I always felt way too clunky on my treadmill.

I do my treadmill on days I can't (won't?) go outside because it's raining, cold, whatever excuse I make up for myself.

I found that by watching old TV shows on my tablet has strongly changed the way I feel about my treadmill. I don't even feel like it's been a long time when the episodes are going by. I watch cheesy shows from the 80s when I was growing up so they are new to me again and keep me interested. Since there are no commercials, each episode runs about 22 minutes so I try to do 2 shows a session.

I have tried reading a book or magazine but I get way too dizzy to try and concentrate that closely while walking fast.

You have to find something that you enjoy. if the treadmill is blah right now, find something else or else you just might not do it which would be a shame.

The treadmill is no more blah than anything else.

And, I'm doing it, I'm just taking input on what others have done and how long it took them to get to a point where they felt they looked forward to it (or at least didn't mind it).

I love both swimming and dancing so I joined a gym with a pool... now I jut bought an underwater iPod and did three solid hours of water dancing! So much fun. I also like being outdoors so I walk some (physical limitations), etc. Need to air up my bike tires and get out on the trail.

I forgot to add that the most fun I have working out is when I have a friend to go to a gym with (who actually goes consistently). I look forward to my workouts right away then.

I walk for now, I'm a music junky so for new it's headphones in world out. I have two kids so I turned it into mommy time makes me a little more excited to do it. I don't get alot of free time so I just turned it into something just for me. Music and time to myself to think if I'd like or zone out if I'd rather.

I have a treadmill! I'm far too broke to join a gym. And I found that when I actually have time to exercise, it's usually the "middle" of the night. (I usually hop on at about 8 or 9. So not smart because I end up with extra energy and then it's 11pm and I'm ready to shop or something.)

At any rate, I've only just started to use it. I set tiny goals for myself. My first goal was to do it at least three times this first week. Which I did. Barely, but I did. My goal for this week is to use it 4 times and walk at least 1/2 mile each time. That doesn't seem like such a goal, but I remind myself that it's further than I walked *last week*.

I walk at a pretty good clip. I aim for 2.5mph to 3.0mph with minimum incline. At this point, it's enough to get the adrenaline going and right now, that's enough to enjoy it.

Hubs bought an iPad for me a while back. We have instant streaming with Nextflix. I made a deal with myself that I'll only watch Burn Notice when I'm on the treadmill. (I love the show. Hubs isn't a fan.)

I look at it this way. It's the one thing that I do strictly for myself. I get a bare minimum of 15 minutes completely ALONE. I'm an introvert and I work with people all day. I desperately need that time that is for me.

Oh, I used to run. I used to run 1/4 mile (once around the track) without thinking twice, barely breaking a sweat. The first time I walked that far on the treadmill, I was huffing and puffing. So, yeah, that was kind of horrible. But I loved running and want to do it again without breaking something.

I've been working out 5-7 times a week for about 6 weeks now. The first week was hard, but it got easier pretty quickly.

It might be that you're a little mad at yourself because you're not at the fitness level you used to be. Give it a couple of weeks and sure you'll get used to it again. Good luck!

I use my elliptical, it took about two weeks to like it, another two weeks to love it.

I come and go with exercise. I know I should. I know I lose better/feel better with exercise but ugh. Some days, I just want to curl up and watch TV. Although I always try to do at least ten minutes of exercise on my lunch breaks if I can get to the exercise room. I do a variety of things. I did 30/30 of hooping in January, then I did 2 weeks of barre in the beginning of February. The last two weeks, I've been really stressed at work and what not. I've been doing some bellydance lately. But I'm in a procrastinating rut.

Day five of 30 day shred, I also do 45 mins on the elliptical 6 days a week and I lift weights for upper body every other day and do squats with kettle bells every other day. I think I somewhat enjoy the 30ds and like lifting weights but yet to enjoy my cardio. I started my cardio regimine around December 4th and I am still waiting for the fun part. I notice that right away the shred helped my endurance so that's pretty fricken awesome

I love mixing up exercises, my main go to are always walking/jogging/running and P90X dvds. I also love Jillian Michaels workouts as well as strength training and calisthenics at home. I want to try my hand at Zumba again soon, and I love kickboxing. Right now I am considering picking up New Rules of Lifting for Women with the 6 Week 6 Pack I am doing!
