Valentine's Day Thoughts
Hey! I just saw this on another thread and thought you ladies would enjoy it:

Not sure what DH has up his sleeve for Valentine's Day this year. It's our first Valentine's day as a married couple. He obviously knows about my weight loss and fitness goals. So it should be an interesting surprise. I'm expecting whatever we do will be on Sunday.
And then we are taking the following Friday off for my birthday. Now this day...I want to go a bit wild. Andrew is picking out a fabulous dinner location and I want to eat. Again...we'll see... Even when I think I want to gorge myself, I think my tummy has shrunk. I just can't and don't want to eat as much as I used to. So- What are your valentine's day plans?? |
:val1::val1::val1::val1::val1:I'll take one of each please!!

Quality over quantity... I'll be hitting up my favorite chocolate shop and getting a truffle or two for Valentine's Day. :) Let's turn this into a food p0rn thread. lol.

My tastes and desires are changing...
The food I posted- and those truffles you posted look amazing. But the commercial stuff? Doesn't even tempt me anymore. Yuck. The chemicals. |
Here is something else I have come across, "during the week of Valentine's Day, consumers will buy more than $58 million pounds of chocolate candy."
"According to the International Labor Rights Forum, 40% of the world's cocoa comes from West Africa's Ivory Coast. The Department of State estimates that 109,000 children work "under the worst forms of child labor" there, suffering abuse that ranges from beatings to working long hours, utilizing dangerous work tools and being exposed to pesticides and brutal weather conditions for cocoa production." I haven't put much thought into getting free trade cocoa, but I think I might start! http://www.fairtradeusa.org/products-partners/cocoa ETA: A couple more links about free trade chocolate: http://vision.ucsd.edu/~kbranson/sto...very/main.html http://www.thedailygreen.com/healthy...anic-chocolate |
I told him not to get me candy but chocolate covered strawberries are okay.

Those raspberries look sooooo good.

We're not doing candy OR a restaurant dinner on Valentine's day - we're going on an 8 mile hike!
