Set backs happen. The road I am on does not have a finish line that I must reach. Life long decisions take a lifetime to see through. It’s a daily struggle and sometimes I will lose. Sometimes I will lose over and over (I have gained 10 pounds in the past 6 weeks or so) but I will not give up and quit.

I have still lost almost 46 pounds, so I've had a lot more success than I have failure. Every battle is not going to be a victory, but I CAN win the war.

I gained well over 25 pounds last winter, but I dusted myself right off and got back on the wagon. You can do it too! And it's good you're catching yourself now rather than later.

Anyone who can evict 46 pounds is not going to knuckle under to a measley 10 pound bunch. You are back on plan, your water in hand and you WILL get rid of those re-gainers. I have great confidence in you.

So, are the pounds we lose like exes that never completely take the hint?

Hit the road, dudes!

Kudos to you, btw, for owning up to gaining some back. It's easy to post when you're losing, but it takes guts to own up to setbacks.

Yes! Failure is not in my dictionary these days. But with every period of back-sliding, I learn a little bit more about myself, about what works and what doesn't. And that eating right 90% of the time is most important but the 10% of indulgent eating is okay as long as it's well-managed.

For me, Thanksgiving was a blip. I regained a little bit, and as of today, it's all off again. In June, I went on vacation for a month and I'm still recovering from it. That one was a big lesson for me on eating out and making poor choices.

Thanks for starting this thread!

Belinda, you are going to win the war! We each must face this war in our own unique way. It will never be easy; anything worth attaining must come at a price. You are facing a temporary setback and will be back on the path when you are ready. Until then, my friend, I am here for encouragement, support, anything you need to help you.

Keep up the good work, sista!!

We all have things happen in our lives that will cause us to slip up. What's difficult is getting back on track and you sound like you've already done that so good for you.

I will continue my journey to the end, no matter how long that takes.

Going shopping this weekend and filling the house up nothing but water, crystal light and good, healthy foods. Until then I will have to deal with the not healthy things that I have at home.

Thanks for all the replies! We can all do this we just have to stay strong and motivated!!

Yes, it's such a good idea for you to keep lots of healthy foods in the house and get rid of the trigger foods. Good idea.

I threw/gave away lots of our Thanksgiving food. There just has to be one place in the world where I don't have tempting foods at every turn. I try to keep my environment 'friendly' at home. It isn't always possible because I have a husband I live with. But - he's used to me dumping dish soap on his chips once in a while.

I gained 8lbs from Halloween to New Year's last year. It happens. But the memory of the four months it took me to get it back off again is making me a little bit more vigilant this year. You're doing the right thing by drawing the line in the sand and trying to get back in a better place.

LOL at dish soap on chips. I never thought of that! I've done too much salt or some other edible seasoning, but (pathetically) have ended up eating it anyway. Dish soap - I would not eat.

I understand, things have gotten a little hectic for me as well! Maybe sometime after the holidays then.
