Lifestyle change

  • I was around the forums quite awhile ago briefly. I fell off the wagon for a few months and gained some weight back. However, I can proudly say that I am back on and have lost what I gained plus some. At 225 lbs, I am officially at the lowest weight I have been since I was 21. I recently bought an elliptical and started working out at least 2-3 times a week. I am counting calories and overall eating much more healthy. I think this time it's helping that I'm looking at this as a lifestyle change, not a diet. If I slip up it's not the end of the world and the next meal will be a very healthy one and I will keep going. Today, I stopped for lunch on the way to the museum with some friends and then we stopped for dinner on the way back since we spent 3-4 hours in the museum. Even with the two meals out, I only ate about 1600 calories for the day by making many substitutions and opting for the healthiest options I could. I was able to still go out with my husband and friends and enjoy the day, and didn't let going to restaurants blow my diet. Which is a little high for me lately, but still in the lose weight range so I am quite happy!

I remember these forums being a positive influence when I started my journey. So hello everyone, I am back! And will do my best to be active again. I would love to find some people to be "weight loss buddies". It's always nice to have people to talk to who understand. We are all in this together!
  • Welcome! I am also at my lowest weight since 21! It's a great feeling!
  • It really is! I still have a long way to go, but it's great to know that I am heading in the right direction.
  • Welcome back! If you're looking for buddies, try one of the challenges or just jump into one or more of the threads. This is the best forum and the most welcoming!!
  • Thanks!
  • Good job on staying on plan while being social. I always find that a bit tricky myself. It's all about compromise. I did dinner and movie night with a friend last night and brought salad and bruschetta as my side dish contributions... it's all about making changes to your overall way of life.
