Default Summer is Here! What is your biggest challenge

I actually have two.

The first one is I live in Las Vegas and we are already reaching the century mark and its not even June yet! So I am always craving a slushie from Sonic, A milkshake from Jack in the Box, or ice cream from just about anywhere!!

My other challenge is it is HOT and I do not want to go out in the "dry" heat and do my daily walking exercise. Ughhhhhhhh

I will conquer both of these challenges in time as I have all the challenges in the past that have brought me to here, but right now these are the two that are bugging the crap out of me!!

Cookouts. Burgers and dogs and yummy calorie-filled appetizers and sides and salads and desserts and drinks...

I agree with you about the heat. But I'm determined as long as i have ice water I'll make this the best summer yet. Looking at our tickers I see we are on similar journeys -- I've lost between 278 and 270 now for about three times.....grrrrrrr......but I'm NOT giving up! I'm actually envious of you being below 250 -- that is a dream for me right now just to get to 250's then UNDER 250. At least in summer tthere is good fruit we can have (unless you're low carbing).

Hang in there!

I'm going on vacation next week and will be Stateside visiting friends, family, traveling and doing touristy things for 3 weeks. I know a lot of this will center around food and I don't know how exercising etc is going to work out. But I'm taking my laptop and my WATP DVDs with me, so worst case I can work something out. As for food, well... I'm taking my little food scale with me and I'll keep calorie counting and hope that keeps me on track... Even though my weighing food seems to weird people out... :/

Like others have said, cookouts and vacations. Summer has such a carefree relaxed feel to it, and sometimes my mind rebels against what I know I should do. It's like, "Come on, everyone else is relaxing. You don't have to count calories all the time!!"

My biggest challenge will be handling the stress of the change in routine. When the high school graduation ceremony is over on June 2nd, I will no longer be a teacher; I become a nursing student on June 4th.

I'm worried that the heat will make me not want to run anymore.

Summer=heat=not being able to "hide" under jackets and such, THAT is my biggest psychological challenge. I have to really psych myself up to wear just a t-shirt and capris and go out walking or even just run errands. I just have to be in my own bubble and not care about what anybody may think.

Mine are easily cookouts and vacations like everyone else. I love hot dogs, even though I cringe when I think about what's in them. We're going to Universal Studios, so maybe the walking will offset the foolishness eating.

Strangely enough though, this is the first summer I have not been hot. I'm FREEZING all the time. I have to wear a fuzzy jacket in my office because the air is set to 75. I just love getting into my hot car now!

Cold, sweet drinks, like pearl milk tea. It might not be popular in some areas of the country, but I love it SO much. Thankfully, there isn't a milk tea place near where I work, but there is one on the way home so I'm tempted almost every day.

We are going to Hawaii for a week in September- that will be my next really big challenge. At home, I usually eat 2 meals a day, on vacation, we usually eat 3. That's an entire extra meals worth of calories, so I have to do a lost of adjustments while being tempted by all the delicious restaurant food!

All my vacations are very active vacations. I'll be going to PlayThinkMovement festival, Flow Camp (I'll be teaching there!), and 4-H camp (I'll be teaching hooping there, too). I always take a hoop with me when I go anywhere. Last year I hooped outside of Kings Island every morning. If I go on a vacation with my husband, I've already tried to find hoopers to connect with to go play with for a while. Around February, I lost weight on vacation by just thinking of this rule: one slightly bad meal, the rest light/healthy. Which is probably the motto I'll go with this year.

As a Texan, totally having the heat problem! I'm hoping my apartment gym has a treadmill for the days that are unbearable, and I'm also going to try to walk really early in the morning to beat the heat.

My other challenge is that as a college student, my schedule is really different during the summers. I have a 5 week class, but otherwise I am home until August. This can lead to me wanting to eat out of boredom. I'm really trying to challenge myself to keep busy stuff!

It's the heat. I would love to hit the farmer's market and a couple of the 'pick your own' type places to take advantage of local produce and it would make a nice outing/exercise for our family but it's. so. hot. I can manage till it gets over 90, and then it's like my brain fries and I can't think straight.

I don't want to over eat, the last thing I want is anything rich or heavy or, heaven forbid, fried...but I don't want to leave the house, either.

Exercise. Definitely exercise. If I had the money to go places like Renn Faire, then the food there might also be an issue. I don't, though, so I have the luxury of not having to worry about that. I have mini Cadbury ice cream bars that come in at 160 calories, so ice cream isn't a problem. But getting outside to do cardio when it's above...well, about 72, if I'm perfectly honest...just kind of stinks. I hate doing it, and I hate indoor cardio that isn't swimming, and so I don't. Bleh.
