What An Overwhelming Relief....

  • Ugh!

For so many years, I have ignored so many little things about my health because I did not want to go to a Dr. and discuss the "Elephant" in the room. (MY WEIGHT)....I was also afraid what any test results would show. However, in January I bit the bullet and with my husband by my side, we visited a doctor. She was amazing! She immediately knew I had some signs of PCOS and placed me on Metformin.

She also ordered full bloodwork which made me a nervous wreck, but hubby escorted me to the LAB. Those results were better than expected with most everything normal except slightly elevated liver enzymes and insulin levels.

Fast Forward 3 months to my dr. checkup and updated bloodwork. This time...with a 26 pound weightloss in 3 months, my liver enzymes were down in normal ranges and so were my insulin levels.

What a relief to find a dr. that I can talk to and that is honest, but compassionate and genuine in her approach. She told me on day one that her ONLY goal for me was good health. She is not interested in the past, but in what we need to do from this day forward. She was so proud of my weightloss and test results that it made all the difference. I am so glad I found her and so glad I finally went..it is a relief just knowing that I didn't wait too long and have an entirely different outcome!!!!

Find a dr. you like and don't be afraid....that's my advice!!
  • !Woohoo ! Glad you found a great doctor. I just got new insurance so I am nervous about finding a doctor who is going to be understanding! So glad you're OK
  • Great job! And once we realize ignoring something doesn't make it go away, the better off we are for the knowledge we gain. Good luck with this whole process of getting healthy. Your doctor sounds wonderful.

  • That is fantastic! I recently moved and need a new doc. Your post inspires me to ensure I find a GOOD one. Thanks!!
  • I've been doctor shopping. We switched to Kaiser recently and the doctor shopping has been a pain. We finally got the wee one a doctor we like (really, it was more about nurses we liked for her) and the Cute Boyfriend has a doctor that has been good for his engineer brain. I'm (apparently) the difficult one. The last one was when I threw my back out (incorrectly lifting my daughter) for the first time in my life. I was at my lowest weight in years and she refused to consider that it was caused by anything other than my weight. So frustrating.

Congrats on finding a good doctor! I am a firm believer of being your own health advocate when you can't find a good doctor but it's nice when you're being supported.
