Newbie Question

Hi Y'all!

I'm looking for support. Is this a group for people who have lost 100 pounds or have 100 pounds to lose? I need to lose 100 pounds and hopefully will be able to say that I have lost that much some day :D

This section is aimed at people looking to lose 100+ and for those that have already lost. There are also post from people who are trying to lose close to 100lbs. All are always welcome.

:welcome2: 100lb+ can seem so daunting in the beginning, but I have complete faith you can do it.

Oh good, thank you! I will subscribe to this forum and come here often then. I have no idea how this weight crept up and it seems like it will be impossible to lose, but I see all these lovely women on here who have lost and I feel like I can maybe do it! I have to start somewhere.

Welcome! The 100 pound club has been very helpful to me and I am sure that it can help you too.

Murrishmo, can I suggest that rather than focusing on losing 100 lbs you look at 10 pounds, then 10 pounds until you get there. Ten pounds is so much more achievable and will keep you much more motivated by success.

Welcome Murrishmo!! 100 Lbs. is most definitely doable :D

Welcome! I started out here too on the 100-lb club and only recently (in the last year or so) started branching out unto other boards. The support here is excellent! You can totally do this! Looking forward to seeing you around here.

Thank you so much! I already feel support and warm fuzzies! That is such a great tip about the thinking in 10 pound increments. Thank you so much for that. Also, I was eating a chicken wing dusted in almond flour and baked (I'm gluten free - most of the time). :)

Welcome! That was a great question I've always wondered about. Ten pounds at a time, you can do this!

Like you Murrishmo, I am just starting on this site and think itis just the encouragement I need, and I have 100 pounds to loose also. So see you around!

Welcome to the newbies! I started on this forum last year but now visit many others, especially the general weight loss support one. The great thing about this particular forum is the common bonds shared by those of us trying to lose about the same amount of weight. There certainly is no rule about who can post, though. And they "let me stay" even though I decided to maintain after I'd lost 90 pounds!

There are so many good threads and posts in other forums, but I have a hard time relating to people who are trying to lose small amounts (LOL - I'm not being cynical - really) and don't know what to say sometimes to those who are trying to lose 200 or more for fear that I make them feel that someone with less weight to lose can't know how they feel. Did that make sense? I really don't judge anyone on how much or little they want to lose - I just find it easier to relate to members who are in just about the same boat as I'm in.

I think you'll also find that there are lots of success stories in the 100 pound club. People who are making sure and steady progress and offer great insight as to why. I find that very helpful in keeping myself on track.

Good luck to you. And I agree - break it down into small increments. I went so far last year when I started as to set a weekly goal. I made a spreadsheet with the goal of losing 2.5 to 3 pounds per week for the first 10 weeks, then 1% every week after. For me - all I had to do was stay on plan from Wednesday to Wednesday (weigh-in day for me) and then decide if I was going to do it one more week. And then one more. We can do just about anything for a week! And there are those who don't like to set finite limits on when the weight should come off, but rather set goals for staying on plan. One day or week at a time. Find what works and stick to it. You'll see results.

What I have done here that has really helped is to participate in some of the challenges and check in on the "decade" threads. You make new friends and really get some helpful advice. :D
