Nighttime is the most challenging time of all for people trying to lose weight or maintain. Just hang in there and think of how fabulous you'll fee in the morning! Nobody (as far as I know) thinks, gosh, I wish I ate all that fattening stuff! Quite the opposite. Tonight, I'm chewing tons of gum.

i started doing jigsaw puzzles and knitting or crocheting at night to keep my hands busy... it has helped tremendously.

This is why I do IF!!

Do you like tea? I drink herbal tea if I get super munchy at night. I love the Yogi teas.

Me too. I used to eat sparingly throughout the day and then eat pretty much constantly from around 4pm to 12am! Terrible... I still get the urge to eat at those times, but usually if I brush my teeth and gargle a really strong mouthwash it reduces the urge.

I get the munchies at night as well. I've started a "no food after 7pm rule" and have turned to tea. I still go to bed a bit hungry, but I'm never starving when I get up. And the tea gets me by.

Damn those night time munchies! They're rough!

I find that if I'm eating enough fat (within my calories, of course!), I don't get the munchies as badly as I used to. But if I'm filling my calories with starches or sugars, I can trigger munchies even when I'm not really hungry.

One of my tests for if I'm really hungry or just "munchy" is to contemplate eating a hard-cooked egg. If it sounds really good, chances are I'm actually hungry. If it doesn't sound good, and I'm thinking of chips or snacky stuff, then I'm just munchy. It's easier for me to ignore "munchies" if I can determine whether it's true hunger or not.

I get the same way...what has helped me the most is sparkling water with lemon (or they have calorie-free flavored sparkling water like berry and orange). It makes me full, calorie free, and it's got some flavor to it...I'm kind of an addict
