Default Newbie Introduction

Hi everyone! Wanted to introduce myself since I'm new to 3FC site and looking for support on this new journey. I'm a stay-at-home mom of 3 boys ages 15,10,5. So finding time for myself is hard to come by. I started Wave 1 of The New Sonoma Diet Saturday and it's going pretty well. I'm planning on weighing myself on Wed (the half way point) then again a week from today (end of Wave 1). I'm not sure how often to weigh myself after that. Any suggestions? Hope to meet some of you and looking forward to the support and advise from each of you.

Hey and Welcome. Weighing can be tricky and everyone seems to have a diff opinion on here. I have been weighing only on Mondays, but I am starting to daily to keep myself more accountable. In the end, for serious weight loss I think it is key to know where you are at all times and not just be suprised after a week.

Keep us posted how you New Sonoma Diet is going, and I suggest you join one of the numerous challenges that are on here (if thats your thing). I am a Low GI girl because I am insulin resistant.

Good luck girl!

Hi! Welcome to 3fc. Everyone weighs as often as they feel works for them, but most have an "official" weigh in day. I weighed every day, but only counted what I weighed on Wednesday as "official." It's entirely up to you. Some people don't like to see the ups and down. Some need to see them.

You'll get all the support you need in here. This is a really nice group.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions regarding "weighing in" and the warm welcome. I think it's great advice about weighing in more than just once a week. I'm going to try doing a mid-week weigh in just to see where I'm at for the week and Saturday being the "official" day. Thanks again!

Welcome!! I did and do weigh daily, but like lovemydoggies said, I used an "official" day for weigh in. I purposely chose Mondays so I wouldn't be tempted off track on the weekends! I think it all depends on how it makes you feel - some people would go nuts weighing daily, other people are OK with all the fluctuations and are better off with weekly or monthly weighing. Good luck!!

Welcome to the board For me, I weigh in twice a week, Monday and Friday. And I track it on my phone (with an app called Noom), so I always have my little graph with me (plus I track calories eaten and burned, again that constant reminder).

Hi Slb3... WELCOME!!

So glad you posted. Yes, everyone seems to find a weigh in schedule that fits and works for them. I used to weigh every Wednesday. Recently I weigh every day or ever other day. Still, Wednesday is my 'official' weigh in day. I am trying to be able to look at the scale and not be compulsive about what it says. I am trying to get used to the daily fluctuations of my body: water, hormones, bowel movements (TMI), salt, medications and more - all these things can effect our daily weight. If you weigh daily you need to be able to face the number that's effected by life's daily fluctuations.

Welcome! I also weigh everyday, just to get an idea where I am at (I am ok with the ups and dows and don't obsess about it), but I use Monday as my official weigh in day. I chose Monday a long time ago to help keep me on track over the weekends.

Funny that I chose Wednesday to give myself a couple days to undo any off plan days on the weekend! Ha Ha.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I must confess I have weighed myself 2 out of the last 3 days just to see where I'm at. Tomorrow, Saturday, is my 1st official weigh in day since I started a week ago. I've chosen Saturdays as my official weigh in day. I have noticed that if I weigh myself within a few minutes of waking up it will be higher then if I wait half an hour to hour. I think my body needs that extra time to wake up .
