Default how much weight did you lose those first few weeks (in proportion to starting weight)

Just wanted to know from the losers (meaning winners!) around here...
how many pounds were you dropping originally?
I know things slow as you go, but what was it like in the beginning in proportion to the start weight?
Is the very first week the biggest ever typically (in terms of pounds shed)?

I had the bad luck to land my period on the very first week of losing which has thrown the scale all over the place...
I've seen as much as 4 pound swings within a 24 hour period.
What were your weight loss patterns like?

My first week is always the biggest.
This time, I've been:
week one: 6lbs
week two: 2lbs
week three: 2lbs.
Starting at 252

Last time, i lost 7 within the first week, and went back to a normal 2lb weight loss from there--starting at 260

No clue... I actually started my journey over the summer when we were abroad for work so I didn't have access to a scale for about 2 months. Before I left the highest post partum weight I saw was 225lbs but then when I got there I was eating like crazy for about a month (before I gave up sugar) so up until that point I might have been more, who knows? I gave up sugar and was exercising the second month there and weighed in at 218lbs (so a 7lb loss for the first month) but I could very well have been at a higher weight when I made those changes.

I've never actually calculated that before, wow, and I definitely never thought I lost 7lbs in one month! I certainly haven't repeated that since then (more like 2-4lbs/month with some months not losing anything at all).

I started at 252 pounds. I kept track every Wednesday from mid January until the beginning of October last year. I lost an average of 3 pounds per week the first 10 weeks and then I averaged about 2 to 2.5 pounds a week. Only 1 week showed no loss (late September) and no week showed a gain, though several days were up from the day before. Some weeks were as low as .2 pounds, the highest was 4.4. I'm way past menopause, so that never figured in. I lost 90 pounds in 8 1/2 months counting calories and exercising.

We're all different, but with diligence I think a person can average 1% per week. Don't compare yourself to everyone else. That can be frustrating. Just track the pattern overall. As long as the big picture shows a downward trend, you're doing something right.

I'm not sure what my "real" starting weight was because my scale at the time only went to 305. I kept thinking I couldn't weight much more than that, so I kept plugging along. My first week or so I kept thinking I would see 305 at any time, but I didn't. I ended up going to Wal-mart and getting a scale that went to 400 pounds and got on it mid-day. It read 333. That was a Friday, so at that point I started doing weekly Friday weigh-ins, and just considered that my beginning weight. I'm guessing I probably lost 5-10 pounds the first 10 days, but I'll never know.

My first week with an accurate scale I dropped 9 pounds. The next week it was 5...then 5 again. The first few months I dropped from 3 to 5 pounds every week, then it slowed down considerably when I upped my weekend calories.

Hi..I just found this thread by searching Menopause and weightloss. Wondering if all of you are posting about typical weightloss from exercising and counting cals or if you are on a certain program? I am just starting my journey at 195lb..I've gained 40+ pounds over the last 3 years. I would love any support to get me started and motivated!

I've never lost big my first week of dieting. I've always averaged .5-2 lbs a week from the start. Right now Im averaging about .7 lbs a week! Not that much but oh well as long as the scale is moving in the right direction it really doesn't matter how long it takes me to get there

My first week I lost 5 lbs, then 3, 3, 4. Currently on week 5 and hoping for at least 2 lbs this week. If I can keep it up at 2 lbs per week I will be happy
