I can't eat like my husband or whenever he eats...
It is so easy for me to want to eat something because my husband is eating it. I've got to change my mindset on this. He can eat anything, really - rarely gains any weight.
So, I am going to tatoo this thought to my brain:
I can't eat whenever or whatever my husband is eating. His eating is really not a permission for me to do so.
Why did it take me such a long time to come to this conclusion??
(Doesn't seem fair.... Oh well.)

I hear you! DH is over 6 feet tall, large framed, and very muscular. He LOSES weight on 2000-2500 calories/day. No way can I eat like him! It's crazy how long it took me to realize that too.

Men can usually eat so much more than us without gaining weight. They are more muscular which means they just burn more calories being alive and they're generally taller than us.
It's annoying frustrating and not fair, but unfortunately it's the way things are.

My fiance is like this too. Well over 6 feet tall (so a good foot taller than me), muscular, and he can easily lose weight without realizing it because he has to eat so much just to maintain. I had to realize that I couldn't eat like him and expect to lose weight!
I remember when he put on a pair of pants the other day and he grabbed a belt and had to tighten it a lot.
"Did you lose weight?" I asked him.
"I guess?" was his reply
I never actually notice if he loses or gains because I'm sure it's the same 10-15 pounds which probably isn't that noticeable on a tall guy.
Oh BTW Running, noticed your ticker! Congrats on the weight loss!

It's harder than it sounds. I find myself eating like him to be polite or to encourage him not to think he's eating too much. There's probably some psychology behind it. I'm sure he's not thinking about how little I eat nearly as much as I'm thinking about it.

I completely agree and understand what you are saying. I have to keep the same mind set as you do. But we can do and your right it isn't fair.

Amen. I cannot match DH on the eating. Well, sadly, I can, but it does much worse things to my body than it does to his.

Yep... just cause DH has a bowl of ice cream in the afternoon - doesn't mean I get a bowl of ice cream, too. This is a hard thing to 'swallow'. (excuse my pun)

My husband actually does have to watch what he eats but my 14 year old boy is a human food storage device! Omg... and he eats and eats and eats. We've learned how to manage though, like we leave high calorie ice cream in the freezer down stairs. Out of site, out of mind. And there are certain things the kids love, like pork chops, that if I make them, I'll eat til I'm blue so they'll just have to suffer for a bit lol! I remind myself someday I will be able to have a bit of this or that, so this is all temporary. It's rough but I keep reminding myself that I have to do this for ME and my goals. Turning down foods has gotten easier with time but yes, some days it makes me NUTS!

My husband eats like a teenager and never weighs over 208 lbs at 6'1. He could stand to lose a few but really? So unfair...

I am with you, Beverly. The same thing goes for me. The hard part is not feeling sorry for myself about it!

I have struggled with that, too, even from childhood I always wanted to eat as much as everyone else, I loved eating! But I am a short, lightly active mother. My husband is a very tall, very active man. If I eat like him, I weigh as much or more than him, except squashed on a much smaller frame. It ain't pretty!
I came to the same realization you did, that his eating isn't permission for me to match it, nor should I. I need to eat for MY body's size and needs and stop trying to eat like someone other than me. I'm not bei deprived because I can't eat a serving as big as I see him gobbling
