Your story is wonderful! Congratulations on your persistence. As I face a more-than-100 pound journey myself, this is truly inspiring. Thanks so much for sharing!!

Sitting in a class. M&Ms were provided by the instructor. No problem declining them when reading about your success!

I'd be smug too, if I were you! Amazing job!

Current mini-goal: Get back to where I was in February (205)

Positive things I need to remember:
I'm at a better starting point since I didn't gain it all back yet.
I quit smoking cold turkey in Nov 2011.
I'm still trying so I can't say I've failed.

You're such an inspiration! Your patience and understanding and ACCEPTANCE of the process is amazing.

Thank you!

You did it all EXACTLY right! Great job. Be proud. I hear no smugness at all. You deserve to be proud and happy with what you've done.

Life style change started on Jan 13, 2011. I was going to lose 100 pounds by Christmas.
I lost 93 pounds by Oct 1, 2011 and am holding there for now. We'll see what happens.
New goal: To maintain at about 160 Final Goal: To decide if I need to lose more

Thanks folks, you are all very kind.

I can't emphasize enough the importance of patience to my process. (Yesterday I almost lost my temper here at someone with far, far less to lose than I have, complaining about only losing a pound a week. I restrained myself.)

Patience is what has allowed me to have a balanced life and eat healthy most of the time without having to give up occasional celebrations, indulgences, dirty martinis, and so on. I can include these things in my plan now and again because I know it's not the end of the world if I don't see a huge loss every single week. It's what allowed me to say "nah, not today - maybe next time" to most of those very tempting eating opportunities that we are all faced with all the time.

My way probably won't work for everyone but it's hard not to be evangelical about it when it has worked so well for me. I've done the flawless-execution, 100% focus, lose-10-pounds-a-month thing in the past, and I've always fallen off the wagon after 30 or 40 pounds of loss, and gained it all back with interest. This time, I didn't.
High weight: 275 (August 2009) *** Low weight: 155 (October 2012)
Today, working off a partial regain. Current weight: 179.
* Make the best choice I can make, with every choice.
* Remember that the temptation in front of me is not the last of its kind that I will ever see; say "I'll pass today."
* Say "no!" to my whiny inner five-year-old.
