I have lost 64 lbs since december and I am not doing anything more than following a combo south beach/weight watchers online plan and walking about 3 miles a day (or doing the equivalent in low impact aerobics)
Welcome. Think of it as a lifestyle instead of a diet and this might be the last change you have to make. I lost 90 pounds in 8.5 months last year by cutting back on carbs, staying under 1700 calories and doing about 5 cardio or strength training classes a week at the gym. Good luck!
