Does my scale need a new battery? Is it broken?

Hi:

Does my scale need a new battery? Is it broken? Because when I step on it the numbers go all over the place. Am I too heavy? It used to work fine but now it seems funky.

But when I tested it with a 10 lb weight, it locks it right on 10 lbs.

The "LO" usually comes on if it is a battery problem. It's a Tanita digital and I don't know how long we've had it. Years.

I dont know about your scale..but my scale..i wonder if its broken too... I bought a weight watchers scale and i can step on ine t three times..aka.. 290.1 289.9 293.1 ..I take an average..but what i did onetime is take the battery out to reset it..to see if it would calibrate.. and it seemed to work better

My scale has also been all over the place lately. I think that it is our bodies trying to deal with all the changes. But hey what do I know I don't think I used my scale more than 1/2 a dozen times before I started this diet.

This was on another thread the other day and I found it hilarious. It also describes my feelings about my scale to a T

"I'm sure there is a little gremlin living in my scale there tossing up numbers just to watch me cry/whoop with joy"

Thanks! I'm thinking I'll live with it til the next grocery store trip and try fresh batteries.

my scale does the same thing..where if i get on/off it will give me 3 different readings...it doesnt do it to my husband (who isnt overweight) so i dont think it's the scale...maybe it has something do with my legs pressing together? who knows...as long as it goes down!

This is so funny but you know that might be what's wrong with my scales I feel better already LOL

I saw "298.8" on the scale for TWO MONTHS even tho my pants were falling off hahahaah there was no "lo" warning, just got stuck on that number (but would weigh a 10 pound sack of flour just fine?!) weirdo or what!

changed batters, boom there's 251 !!! BEST NUMBER EVER!!!! hahahha

I'd recomment taking the battery out and let it reset, that should do it!

At Weight watchers they only let you weigh once don't they ( haven't been for a while) - otherwise we'd all be there leaning this way and that, standing to the front and to the back - all different weights!!! Take FOREVER to get through the queue..

fresh batteries sound like the go for you....

I'm surprised my scale isn't broke from the many times it's been kicked across the room and crashed into the wall. Lol

Trazey34 - I am not having scale issues, but your post makes me want to change batteries. :0)

KatMarie - That was hillarious!!!

I have a 'Health O Meter' (Doctor Scale) in my home. I will never use anything else. I've had it for several years. I think it's the best for accuracy. They sell them on Amazon with free s&h, if interested. Less expensive spring scales, etc., generally, aren't accurate.
Search 'Healthometer Physician's Scale - 400KL' on Amazon for details.

I'd try a new battery. My scale (a Weight Watchers scale made my Conair) will go a bit hinky when the battery is getting low, but before the low-battery signal.

If you weigh more than the scale's limit, that can happen also. We used to have two really good scales, and when we started dieting a few years ago, my husband was too large for both scales. One would randomly register numbers (very unrealistic ones. He was over 400 lbs, and he'd get numbers in the 200's). The other scale would register gibberish (lines that weren't numbers) and would blink.

If you're using the scale on an uneven surface, such as carpeting or a warped floor, it can throw off the numbers.

Another possibility is your posture/steadiness on the scale. My husband and I both have health issues that can affect balance. If our balance isn't good, the scale will either not register because we're swaying too much (numbers will show up, but the scale won't settle on one and will flash and print out ERR for error), or will register unreliable numbers.

my scale is flippin' out too!! batteries are the same price as the cheapo scales....will decide when I get to target today.
