Yay for child and diet proofing -LOL-

I have a two year old who is very independent (is there any other kind of 2 yr old??) and at the moment loves opening the fridge to put her drink/get her fridge out. Which is great except when she does it a million times. So like so many parents today we put a safety lock on the fridge so she can't get into it when we don't want her to.

Tonight that safety lock stopped my snacking. Mindlessly walked into the kitchen and went to open the fridge, not hungry at all. But when it didn't open I was snapped back to reality. I think I'm going to be making sure its on every night even after she has gone to bed (it as actually quite annoying to take off, brilliant!).

Anyone else have funny ways to stop the snack attack?

I am so glad that it worked for you! I have never seen a frig safety lock. A great idea!

That is a good one! I don't have a snack attack story, but I do have a child lock story. I was visiting my sister last week and she asked me to take dinner out of the oven while she was picking up her hubby from the train. The timer went off, and I couldn't get the darn oven open due to the child lock! (They have an 18 month old.) After what seemed like ages it finally came open and dinner did not get burned :)

I rent a suite that was built onto a friend's large house. I have my own little kitchen here, and I keep healthy foods like cut up veggies in my small fridge.

If I want to have a snack that's not a vegetable, I have to make the decision to go all the way upstairs and across the house to the Large Kitchen, to where I keep my "other" snacks like my Skinny Cow treats and popcorn.

It's not that I'm lazy and wouldn't make the walk, I go upstairs all the time... it's that I have all that time to think about if I really want to eat those calories! :)

I love that story! Kids can be great lol

My cats like to steal my snacks and food so that helps keep me from eating as much.
