Am I ever going to not be a ticking time bomb!!!

  • OK,
So reading someone else's post made me do an online body fat calculator. According to the Navy I am 40% and YMCA I am 39%
    WTF????

Am I EVER GOING TO NOT BE AT-RISK of dropping from a heart attack???? Of course, I'm the damn apple!!! So everything to measure it is where the weight hasn't gone. Crap! 3 lbs of "obesity" left and I'm a bag of 40% blubber. This sucks. I'm tired of my fat gut and the "risks" that comes along with it. And every darn pair of pants being too tight in the gut and sagging in the butt, hips, and thighs. I feel like an apple with toothpicks for legs and a cherry on top for a head. Seriously. This. Sucks.

    OK, I'll stop whining.
  • ok, but think of this way, you've got great legs! i can work for months and my legs still are stubborn. sometimes i'm jealous of the apple because you can hide your midsection and wear shorts, or great pants/skirts. i can't ever hide my hips or the fat that refuses to leave my quads. so far lol.
  • You can do it! If you keep losing, that weight has to come from somewhere-eventually it will have to come from the old midsection, too!

i think i have an apple gut and a pear butt, is that possible?

  • At 5'9" 205# the calculator I use shows you are 30.1 % BMI. I don't know if its the same as an online body fat calculator but you can see it is quite a bit different.

  • shape is like height, what can you do about it?? not too much! keep losing and it has to come off from somewhere, and then see what you get ~ you're a MUCH SMALLER apple now, that's gotta count for a lot!!!
  • Do you work out at all? At 5'9", 204 lbs, I was 32% when measured with a hand held thingy (I have since gained a few. ) 40% sounds high to me given your height and weight... Though every body is different. Those are just estimates anyways and can be pretty off. I have read the water displacement one is the most acurate. Then I read somewhere the only REAL accurate body fat measurement is an autopsy. (I am going to pass on that one for now)

It's just another number... And it is one you can change. It'll go down... Besides!! Look how far you have come already!! Compare it to what your % was when you were at your highest.

    (((HUGS)))
  • Yes, one day you will not be in that percentage. Keep at it!

I too am an apple so I know... first on the stomach, last off the stomach! But it will come off!

    A.
  • Online calculators are worthless for body fat percentage. In fact, even the scales that measure it via electrical resistance aren't that accurate. If you're really interested in how your body fat is changing, get yourself a scale that measures it and watch the trend over time.
