Anything else you would like to share with us:

I'm really frustrated with every aspect of my life right now. I'm not sure what to do about it. The main thing that is bothering me is my weight because I think everything that bothers me, all leads back to how heavy I am. My weight is preventing me from doing the everyday things that need to be done, what ever those things may be. I needed somewhere to turn so I decided to Google ~ I'm feeling lucky, "Weight Loss Message boards" and this one popped up. I came and lurked for a little bit and I like what I have seen so far. I'm looking for support without criticism as I have encountered criticism on other forums. It is one of the things that has prevented me from continuing on with other sites. I hope this Message Board will be different.

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: My own subconscious. If I'm not constantly vigilant, I reach for junk food without even thinking.

Following any specific plan: Counting my calories and exercising at the gym.

First name: Kit

Geographical location: Ontario

Age: 24

Marital Status: married

Children/Ages: a son, almost 2

Occupation: stay at home mom

Pets: some fish

Hobbies/Interests: reading, dancing.. huge movie fan, travel , scrapbooking, internet

Height: 5'5

Eye/Hair Color: brown & brown

Starting Date of Weight loss Journey: for the millionth time, but more committed than ever this time.. started march 5th 09

Starting Weight: 260

Present Weight: 249

Goal Weight: 125

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: accepting that I wont be doing this perfectly .. I always tend to give up after I did something I felt I shouldnt, or missed out on a workout etc , & I have pcos, just seem to feel more discouraged about it coming off not quick enough.. I have almost no patience! lol

Following any specific plan: no not really , just lowering my carbs & sugar intake .. and no more pop

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: finally woke up, finally committed.. other times yes i really wanted to lose but I wasn't really to fully commit to a lifestyle change .. and im agoraphobic, so im just really sick of not being able to get out.. and I really want to be be doing more with my son.. especially this summer.. so I have the extra motivation now & Im doing some things differently that's been a big help in curbing my hunger/cravings

Anything else you would like to share with us: ive lost weight twice in bigger amounts before.. I never really was over weight until i was 17 I think .. I was 170 & got down to 134 .. then I ballooned to 220 & got down to 159 .. I actually gained little during pregnancy , but gained about 30 lbs afterwords having to deal with post postpartum depression & a lot of stress/anxiety in home life

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past:
I'm getting older and very worried about my health

S/C/G: 253/Maintenance/140

Height: 5'8

Default

First name: Kristen

Geographical Location: NC

Age: 27

Marital Status: Married (6 years)

Children: not yet

Occupation: underemployed former-reporter/freelance writer/jack of all Communication trades

Pets: 2 cats

Hobbies/Interests: movies, mystery books, outdoorsy stuff on the water

Eye/Hair Color: light brown for both

Starting date of weight loss journey: August 21, 2008

Starting weight: 253. Probably a little more, actually; I didn't weigh myself until 1-2 weeks into it. I was scared.

Present weight: 197 on Monday morning's official weekly weigh-in, but I've been seeing 192-194 these last 3 days. Looking forward to next Monday's weigh-in! I've been logging the highest number I can get, every Monday.

Goal weight: 140. 135 would be nice but I'll see when I'm there if that or less is still a realistic maintenance for me (used to be). I may be fit and not just skinny in the fugure, if you know what I mean. I suspect 145 -- the last time I felt thin -- will give me that 'goal' feeling, but to be safe for future, weekly fluctuation I'd like to be 140 even.

Biggest hurdle: Myself. My pastself.

Following any specific plan: Calorie counting. 90 mins cardio weekdays/60 minutes cardio weekends/0-15 mins 'floor exercises' (squats, etc) daily

What is different: It's different because I decided it is different ... no other 4reason ever held me for the long haul. Another poster, Robin, said it was about commitment and that's a great summing up. Commitment truly is the difference. When I got married I told myself that this was forever, no matter what. Maybe he'd become disabled the day after the wedding, but it was forever. So I've been telling myself something similar about my healthy lifestyle. This is my life now. Even if I don't get to goal for years and don't think I ever will -- this is simply my life now. And I'm glad.

Occupation: Telecomm programmer

Pets: none

Hobbies/Interests: singing, reading, and now working out

Height: 5'6"

Eye/Hair Color: Blue eyes, long brown hair

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: April 20, 2009

Starting Weight: 265?

Present Weight: don't know

Goal Weight: 210

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: actually starting so I've already overcome that hurdle!

Following any specific plan: Tracking energy balance via mypyramidtracker.gov

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I can't "win" when I use scale to measure progress. If doing better than expected, then I ease off on efforts and if worse than expected, I give up. So absolutely no scale this time until I calculate I've lost 50 lbs (which is why I don't know my starting weight)

Anything else you would like to share with us: Why yes, I am a geek to come up with such a mathmatically based plan!

Goal Weight: 153

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: a mind set that says 'I'll fail this time--again.'

Following any specific plan: Bistro MD. Treadmill every day.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: Annual check up did not give me the best news--and my knees hurt all the time.

Pets: a tuxedo cat

Hobbies/Interests: drawing/digital coloring

Height: 5' 8"

Eye/Hair Color: blue eyes, brown hair

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: starting over today (7/9/09), my last "journey" was in '04 when I lost around 70 pounds and have somehow managed to keep it off since

Starting Weight: 360+(?)

Present Weight: 285

Goal Weight: 150

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: staying motivated to cook and exercise as opposed to eating out and staying in, plus avoiding any soft drinks (can't have diet as I have bad reactions to artificial sweeteners but of course I shouldn't have regular either).

Following any specific plan: undecided

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: cooking for two and not just for myself

Anything else you would like to share with us: I dropped nearly everything I knew and moved to another state to start my life all over with someone I met online. My boyfriend has been very supportive of me, but I've battled with depression and have had a hard time adjusting to all the changes I've been through. I've actually been diagnosed with depression in the past and sometimes wonder if I'm manic-depressive or have a touch of OCD. I haven't had a chance to make any friends since I've moved except for online ones, and since my boyfriend works a lot I tend to get lonely. I also have a history with asthma, which got pretty bad when my weight was higher. I'm hoping I'll have even better control of it if I can drop some more pounds; it certainly can't hurt, right?

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I have just achieved a life-long professional dream. But I realize I need the professional appearance to go with it. I work in a profession where getting out to meet and greet is important, and I have a tendency to hide because I'm embarrassed about my weight. Now, someone has really taken a chance on me, and I feel like I need to take advantage of it, because this is my shot!
