Default So apparently I haven't lost any weight!

So I usually weigh in the mornings and it's all gravy but just a minute ago, I went to pee and then I was like what the hey? I'll step on the scale and I weighed in at 247 LBS!!!??!?!?!?!

WTF?????

That's a 10-lb gain from what I've been weighing in at? I understand fluctuations throughout the day, but come on, 10 lbs? That is a little ridiculous to me, does this happen to anyone else? I mean it makes me feel like I haven't lost any weight at all!

I'm mad and frustrated and I just want to give up! But I won't but I'm still going to whine and complain!

This was a nightime weight? When was the last time you weighed in previously? (that morning, last week, last month). Did you eat anything salty or is it TOM?

There are lots of things it could be...

Weighing in at night will automatically be 3 or 4 pounds higher just from the weight of the food and water consumed during the day. The remaining weight on the scale could be water retention and some people can retain upwards of 5 or 6 pounds after eating salty foods. Hormonal changes can pack on additional pounds of water retention.

If you have been OP and the result on the scale is confusing, it isn't real weight gain. If you haven't been OP and its been a long time since you last weighed it, then it is possible that some of that weight (but not all of it) is actual gain. However, that weight will come off quickly again if you get back on plan.

Try not to freak out! Get back on the scale in the morning after a few days and then see where you are.

You've probably checked this, but is your scale working? Home use digital scales, even new ones, can go blinky for no apparent reason. Just to give you an example, every once in a while my scale will take twice as long as usual to "find" my weight. It eventually does, but when I step off the scale, the display resets to 0.0 and then flashes something that looks like it could be an "E". When I get on the scale 2 seconds later, it finds my weight in half the time and I've "lost" 5.5 pounds. The lower number corresponds to the scale at my gym, so you can guess which I use ...

If it's not this: hang in there. Weight loss is never linear, but it does happen eventually.

I agree with Kaw - it could be the scale. If it is digital, check the battery in your scale.

And if it weighs ounces you can check the calibration with quarters ($.25)
Five quarters = 1 ounce.

My weight fluctuates sometimes too. Usually by around 1-3lbs, but occasionally it fluctuates around 5 or 7. Thats only when I weight in the night time with all my clothes on. (I always weigh without clothes)

Well, it was weight gain...I stepped on today and weighed 242.2 lbs. I admit I've been OP, but I didn't think it was this bad but this morning was a wake up call, just because the year is over, doesn't mean I'm packing the pounds back on! Thanks for the support guys!

i had a situation where i weighed myself a week and a half after exercising 5x a day for 15 minutes and my weight remained unchanged. I didn't expected to lose much, maybe a pound or so. i felt bad about it but remembered that in my situation weight loss isn't going to come right away. right now i'm just exercising to reintroduce myself to physical activity and not necessarily for weight loss.
