Default Got my first 'you've lost too much' today

When I went into church, one of the ladies grabbed me.
Rev'd Rosinante, how I'm going to say this?
(I kind of guessed what might be coming).
You losing too much. I can see it in you face.
Me: Nah, I'm OK. My body needs to catch up with my face.
She: OK, I said it.

A pound to overweight.
30 pounds to normal.

I really haven't gone too far but it's interesting people's perceptions. Plus, of course, the lady comes from a culture where, historically, weight is beautiful.

Yes, you hit the nail right on the head! Perception are like that! I notice that people that are larger and have lost a significant amount they lose in their face pretty quickly- so although you look really thin- you might have that 30lbs tucked away down there someplace. My husband lost 100lbs and he is considered JUST in the normal bmi range of 170lbs for himself. Well everyone is always telling him he is too skinny, blah, blah, blah!
What about healthy people? Jeesh!

I think our perceptions of what a normal weight is are so screwed up. I'm as guilty as anyone. My boss's wife is at a weight that is really good for her height and build, and yet sometimes I look at her and think, God, she needs to gain 5 pounds.

She really doesn't, she is just built like a stick and has no curves or shape. She has no boobs, her butt is flat as a pancake. That's just the way she's built. She's in great shape and eats a very healthy diet and her weight is spot on!

Rosinante, congrats! Even if it's an expression of concern or worry, it feels good when people notice your losses.

"Normal weight" for men in the US particularly is completely messed up. Being "big" or "husky" isn't considered dangerous or unhealthy but it is!

Congrats, Rosinante. That's great that people are really noticing.
I find that when I first lose weight it shows in the face, and I really want to start losing more in the face, cause my cheeks are just way too chubby.

Default it's a comliment!

You've done great, just try to take it as a compliment. As a social misfit, i understand sometimes people just feel they need to say "something". You have done great!!

Thankyou!

The strange things is that only a couple of days ago, I'd noticed my face on the move again. The sides of my face have really flattened in; and yes, I am concerned about wrinkles round my mouth which are getting deeper. I do look forward to my body catching up!

Congratulations on the weight loss!
I wish my face will also lose some of the excess fats soon... my friends still love to pinch my chubby cheeks until now! lol
Good luck to us! I'm trying to get to 135lbs (normal BMI for my height) as well!

Your face will stop losing eventually. Mind seems to have leveled out. Heck, since I've been plateaued a few months, I dare say my face has filled in a bit. That's fine with me. I never wanted to be gaunt. I think maybe once we settle into a weight the face will fill out a bit.
