Default Sickie here -

Ugh...my brother decided to bring a side-dish of the common cold along to Thanksgiving, and it's kicking in. I've kept the sore throat at bay with plenty of salt water (ick) and hot tea, but the runny nose and sinus pressure are really annoying. Whenever I'm sick, I always get wor wonton soup...which I only really like when it's made at a fast food chinese place near me that uses plenty of msg. I have never made a wonton soup that I've liked at all. I make a yummy hot and sour soup, but it's not the same (I haven't figured out what font or emoticon denotes whiny....but that was supposed to be incredibly whiny )

If anyone has a good recipe, or any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them~

although, looking at nutritional estimates, maybe it's not quite as bad as I thought....an entire 32 oz bowl at PF Changs is about 450 cals - higher than my normal dinner, but not by much. Anybody had their wonton soup? is it good?

Why not have chicken soup or vegetable soup??

It's real important to let go of past traditions and things that "we used to do". I had to create new traditions and discover new things that I could turn to...

Feel better!

There is a new product being sold at some drugstores. It is called "Sambucol".
You can find out more about it in the internet.

It is elderberry extract. Comes in tablets and liquid. And it tastes great.

If you take it as soon as symptoms of a cold or flu erupt, it will knock it out in 2 hours.
But you also have to keep taking it for a couple of days after the cold is gone, or it can come back.

I always keep it on the shelf, and I have not been sick now for the last 2 years.
My colds go away before they get me down.

I am sooo glad I found out about it. It is sooo nice not to get sick anymore.

I've never had their soup. But I'm of the mindset that if this soup will help you feel better have it. You are already being mindful, looking for alternatives and making it fit your plan. Feel better!
