Foods that are easy to prepare and eat?

  • I have my surgery this Wednesday. A few days after that (not really sure how long), I will have limited use of my right arm so I am wondering what foods I can get that will be easy for me to prepare and eat since I am right handed. Any suggestions?
  • Have you ever tried Boca Burgers? I like them. You can cook 'em up on a stove, one-handed. Then you can eat them, one-handed! I fix them like a hamburger and eat it on a thin bun.
  • Have you got time to cook n freeze? I'm thinking chilli or casserole type meals that can be defrosted and eaten with a spoon?
  • Frozen veggies and steamer bags is the first thing that comes to mind for me. Let us know how things go!
  • I would get cooking now and freeze.

    Soup, soup, soup
    Chicken *meat*balls
    Turkey or chicken burgers
Frittata - basically crustless, cheeseless quiche

Other easy things - cottage cheese, yogurt, deli turkey breast, frozen veggies roasted in the oven, frozen veggie burgers, fruit, salad fixins'. oatmeal with berries.

I hope everything goes well and that you have a quick and pain free recovery.
  • Hard-boiled eggs!
  • Thanks for the great ideas, y'all ♥
  • baby carrots and V8, crackers, apples (good for snacks and don't take much fooling around with)

you can slice tomatoes and put them in the broiler (slice them ahead of time and put them in tuperware or wrapped, can top with bread crumbs, or parmesan cheese, a little olive oil, whatever you like)

as long as you don't put the dressing on it, a pre-prepared salad will last for several days in tupperware.

    good luck!
  • Thank you
  • Heh heh, make your honey do the cooking?
  • Well, he will do some I am sure but he has to work too :/
  • In a pinch- you can use the microwave a lite meal. Some have more salt than if you were cooking something yourself. They might to something to eat once in a while.
