Some big life changes ahead

  • My fiancé and I finally decided that we'll be getting married in October. His mother has been a big help in that she's hosting the reception at her home, has made the decorations and flowers, and will also be making my wedding dress. So I've been busy looking for the right chapel to book, designing invitations, looking over dress ideas, and in general just trying not to stress over being the center of attention on top of everything else.

Last week we decided on a chapel and planned on visiting it in person to make sure it was what we wanted and to do the booking. But before that could happen, we found out we have to move out of the house in which we've lived for three years. Like immediately! Luckily we've already found a place in another part of town, but I was so worried that we'd have to stay with friends or relatives temporarily or that all this would interfere with our wedding plans. We went on to book the chapel last week as planned, but pushed the original date we had mind back by a couple of weeks in order to give us some breathing room. Looks like it's all working out. Although our new place will be a bit smaller than where we're out now, in many ways it will be nicer.

So here I am, having to move next month and getting married the following one. And throughout all the stress I think I've been doing pretty well with eating. And with all the extra cleaning I've been doing, I've been getting plenty of exercise.

Oh, and I finally broke through my plateau maybe a month ago; I hadn't been able to get under 250 since the beginning of this year. Finally seeing 240-something on the scale has been a pretty big deal to me.

So yeah, lots of changes coming up for me. Oh, and did I mention the new place we're getting includes a community pool? I'm gonna pick up some water barbells and do some of my aquafitness there instead of having to truck off to the Y for it.
  • How exciting! Congrats
  • Congrats!!!
  • Congratulations on getting married soon! You'll have your hands full with that prep, October isn't that far away (as I keep telling myself about this pregnancy... It seems so far but in reality it's only a two months!).
  • You are def a busy person right now! Congrats on everything!! Enjoy your big day
  • Congratulations to you on all of accomplishments!
  • Yay, congratulations! I love weddings. I either had multiple husbands or was a wedding planner in a former life.
  • Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and breaking through that plateau! Sounds like you've got a lot going on in the next couple of months but you have a plan in place and a mindset to not let the busyness derail you.

I love your avatar, by the way - it's so cute!
  • Congrats!!
  • Congratulations to you!
  • Congrats! That's such great news!!
  • You do have a lot on your plate! I'm impressed you broke the plateau and in a pretty big way too, judging from your ticker!

I'm envious of the pool. We have to treck to the local amusement park for the pool. We do that because we already have passes, so why bother paying membership to a pool. My only complaint is that it's not in any way relaxing.
  • Cograts!! Lots of excitement!
  • Onederchic - Thanks, hon.

    meplusthree - Thank you!

Arctic Mama - That's right, you've got your hands full too! And thanks. I swear it's still the middle of summer (but in my case it just might be the heat, lol).

    Apeyness -Thank you very much!

    lovemyboy - Thank you!

Kismet89 - Thank you! I love weddings myself but am completely feeling unprepared, lol.

LitChick - Thanks! Having that plateau drag on for months and months about killed me, lol. But at the same time maybe it was a good learning experience and made me appreciate things more. I"m really hoping I can at least lose at least a little more before it's time to get fitted for that dress.

And thanks so much about the avatar! It's something I drew for the fronts of our wedding invitations.

    SarahD140 - Thanks!

    LiliK - Thank you!

SnowboundChick - Thank you so much!

Eliana - Thanks! I am feeling a little overwhelmed, but somehow I think the whole wedding will be a piece of cake once I get through the move in this coming month.

And wow, I can't imagine an amusement park pool being relaxing in any way, lol. Sometimes the one at the Y gets a little hectic. Luckily I've actually spent time at the pool I'll get to be enjoying more. It's small but I've never seen a crowd there during the weekdays.

    TXMary2 - Thank you!
  • congratz! You will make a beautiful bride.
