Question not enough food?

I'm tracking my calories on sparkpeople. I don't feel deprived of food. I've been busy the last couple days...but I've eaten. According to sparkpeople, I've eaten less than 1,000 calories the last couple days. Has anyone had a problem with the sites accuracy?

I haven't tracked on sparkpeople, I use the dailyplate. I sometimes don't feel as hungry when it's hot. I wouldn't worry about it if it was only a couple of days. If you stayed under 1,000 for more than that it wouldn't be good.
Maybe try putting your food into another tracking site and see how it compares.

Are you measuring and weighing everything?

Yes, I'm measuring everything. I'm even logging sticks of gum. It has been hot here...so I'm drinking lots of water. I'm up to 3 meals a day, trying to make it to 4. I just feel like I'm eating all the time

I agree with h8cake - a few days of lower calorie eating is no big deal - no harm done. With this heat, it's hard to get down more than some fruit, a yogurt and stuff like that.

Ah,we posted at the same time.

If you're eating three meals a day, how is it not adding up a bit more? And what about snacks?

Maybe post a typical days menu and we can help you tweak a bit...

I wouldn't worry then, just keep an eye on how you're feeling physically and drink lots of water. It was 112 today where I live so I feel your pain.

Here's today:
B – Oatmeal w/maple and brown sugar w/water 160
Orange 45

L- Cottage Cheese – 1 cup 203
Ham – 1/2 cup diced 123

D- Chicken Breast tenderloin 260
Green Beans 140
Crystal Light Raspberry Ice 10

S- Gum – Stride (2 pieces) 10
Celery w/Laughing Cow Cheese 45

That's 996. I think
According to Sparkpeople my target range is 1280 - 1630.
It's just a couple days. So, I'm going to try not to worry about it. I'm just so determined and motivated right now. I want to do it right.

Why not try adding a couple fruits and vegetables in there, I only see three servings total? Healthy fats like avocado or a little olive oil?

Also I don't know how others feel but I don't put much faith into the Sparkpeople thing -- I'm now down to the low 170s and I'm still losing well in the target range it gave you, averaging 1500+ day.

I've always found Sparkpeople very good indeed. I actually use DietPower mostly; just for old time's sake, I've had it for 6 years now but it's a paid for programme (although it was $49 years ago, so can't complain). My graphs and stats are in DP, so I stick with it, but I do sometimes compare with SP, and the calorie counts are the same.

I'm trying to keep up to 1400 but yesterday could have had 3 meals and 1 snack (ran out of time for a 2nd snack) for under the 1,000 - accidentally, that's just what it added up to. Like everyone else says, once in a while, no big deal; if it becomes regular, it's not thought to be good for your health: plus, once you get nearer goal and the pounds get (even) more stubborn, you've nowhere to drop to if you've been too low for too long.

It should be easy for you to add a few more calories. For example, you could have some 1% milk with your oatmeal instead of water. You could also have a scrambled egg as part of breakfast. Why not have a salad with your lunch, and use a measured tablespoon or two of dressing, depending on calories? And you could have half an apple as well as celery with your Laughing Cow cheese. Voila!

If you're not hungry, I wouldn't force myself to eat. There's nothing to be gained from that. Nothing. I think it would be suffice to say that this is a temporary thing, no? The heat and all? You're eating fairly healthy items, so you shouldn't be suffering on that front for a short period of time. Do make sure to drink lots of water.

But, as your journey progresses, I would look for ways, right now to sweeten up that menu of yours.

The truth is, if this is about feeling *so motivated* and that you are so into the weight loss, so you just don't need to/feel like eating - I'm here to tell you, that it just won't last. That motivation will fade - reality will hit - and you'll need to/want to eat more. And you should. And that's okay. And here's the thing - you CAN. So PLAN for that - because most likely it's coming. At that point you can add in some healthy snacks - fat free yogurt, egg white omlettes, fruits, roasted veggies. You can supplement your meals - tasty hearty soups. You can expand your menu and experiment with delicious proteins and delectable roasted veggies as side. The list is endless of the types of salads and the wonderful add ins and combinations you can form. Adhering to a healthy lifestyle is not boring and dull.

You might think about getting a food scale. Measuring is not nearly as accurate.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. I'm sure my motivation will fade. My husband has been out of town and will be coming home soon. Staying under my calories will be harder then. He can eat whatever he wants and doesn't gain. I'd love to have those genes

Agreed. If you're prone to binging, just be aware that down the line you might feel a very strong pull to eat. I know that some days I'm just not that hungry, and then it feels like in a day or two, I am famished. I'm trying to learn to listen to my body and feed it healthy food when it's hungry and not get so desperate that I am setting myself up to be prone to a binge.
