Family/friend comments

Recently I have been getting a lot of comments from my family and friends saying "you are getting too skinny" "don't you think you should stop now" "why do you want to lose more" "you better watch it before you are too thin" etc. which has kind of been bugging me because I am still 22 pounds away from my goal weight and am not even sure if I will still want to lose more after I get to that because I do not even feel skinny yet and they are shocked that I still want to lose more. They have been supportive throughout my entire journey until now they just seem like they want me to stop so now I am not sure what to do :?:

Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Well, remember that they are seeing you drastically smaller than you used to be, and it is hard for people to accurately judge body weight and frame size on others, both to the high and low side. So for them they don't necessarily understand that dropping more weight will tune up a few problem areas, not make you look like a starvin' Marvin.

Some people do this to discourage us and be mean spirited, when they are jealous of our progress. But most do it out of genuine care and concern for us, not to be mean. They just don't understand what '20 more pounds' looks like on you, just like they may not fully understand what the first 100 pounds would have looked like were it not now gone. Pursue your goals at YOUR leisure, and when they see you happy and healthy they will back off.

I too find myself explaining what a healthy weight is for a 5'5" woman is. I really want to say " your just used to me being fat, in fact we are all so fat we've lost track of what healthy looks like" It's like, as long as I was the fat girl people were supportive but now I've become more slim than all the family and most friends and I'm getting the "your obsessed" talk. Well, yep, you kinda have to be a little obsessed to lose 50 pounds. It takes a ton of work! Let's stick with it though. Eventually people won't remember the fat girl and they will just think of as slim....naturally.

You are probably are at a weight where you do look great for your height. That is why you are getting those comments. However, you know where you want to be finally, so I would continue until YOU are satisfied. Great going!
