New and looking for support!

This was the closest support group I fit into. I really need to get in shape, and think this group will help!

I finally woke up and decided it's enough... I want more energy and I want to walk up stairs without wheezing, etc.

My plan includes working out everyday and limiting my calories. Working out is hard because I want to get on the treadmill and just run like everyone else at the gym, but my knees and ankles can't take it...one day!

I am doing this for me, but I think it will help to have other people hold me accountable for weigh ins!

Welcome! I had many of the same reasons for beginning my plan to get healthy at the start of this year. You will do great!

I work out most weekdays, and take the weekends off for the most part for rest. I actually just started the couch to 5K program, don't know if you've heard of it - but it sort of eases you into running. It's been great so far!

I have heard of it, and was thinking that once I lost 10-20 lbs I would try it. I just think that i would hurt myself if I tried jogging right now even for a few seconds.

The great thing about exercise, in my opinion, is that it doesn't HAVE to be RUNNING ;) I hate running and refuse to do it! I really think that at any size we should each do only the exercise/movement that we personally love to do, which changes our bodies in the way we want. For me right now that means biking to work, strength-training at home, standing at my desk at work, walking with my husband, heavy-duty housework, playing on the Wii or swimming with my kids, family hikes, and rollerskating. Some of these activites are more serious and scheduled (biking and strength-training), some of them are just to get me moving in a fun or productive way.

In my philosophy, anything you do that gets you out of a sitting or lying position is a positive contribution toward your weight-loss efforts.

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome and congrats on making this promise to yourself. Don't worry about what others on the treadmill are doing, just listen to your body and do what YOU can do - even a little bit to start with gets you heading in the right direction.
