Default First trip to the amusement park

I was in Seventh Heaven today! I went to our local amusement park by myself. I love roller coasters, but no one in my family will ride them, so I have to go by myself. Sad, yes. LOL! And I have major social anxiety so the fact that I go it alone tells you how desperate I am!

I had an absolute ball!

First of all, straight off the bat, I fit through the turn style with ease! No turning side wise! No little hop so my thinner-than-my-hip thighs go through instead of the huge butt/hip area. I just plain fit. And I had the thought, gosh did they make these things bigger over the winter?

Then, I fit in every ride NO problem. I did not even feel snug. The over the chest things fit comfortably and I could still breathe!

AND, this may only relate to me, but I took dramameine so I wasn't even sick! Only I can get sick on a roller coaster and love it at the same time. My last ride did me in though, and unfortunately it was only my fourth ride. The ride was "Firehawk" for those who know it. You start out sitting up, but before the ride starts the coaster lays you down flat on you back. You ride laying down and flip over so you are flying on you belly. It's awesome!! I loved it until we hit the corkscrews. Right after the corkscrews the ride comes to a screeching hault and that did me in. All the contents in my stomach came up. I was ok, breathing deeply. Then the ride started again just taking us into the end area and came to a quick stop again. Then the ride jerkily sat us up straight. I have never come so close to losing my breakfast in my life. It was awful. I was swallowing hard and fighting the convulsions my stomach was doing. Thankfully, I held it all back, managed to get off the ride and within five minutes was ok. That sucks!! I loved that ride, but now I'll never ride it again. That's the second ride that has happened to me on. The other was dellerium. I love that ride, but I can never ride it again.

So I went home after that.

Oh goodness, I use to love going to amusement parks, but now I have a fear of not fitting in the rides right, so I don't go anymore! I'm glad you got to go and had a good time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never went at my high weight, but just under it I was starting to get really uncomfortable. Apparently it's a common fear. I had no idea. I thought it was just me!!

But your fear will go away and the rides will become more comfortable. It's an amazing feeling!

There was a man in front of me on a ride for whom it took three attendants to get him locked in. He even switched seats and in the second seat they were able to get him in. I was glad for him because I would be mortified to be escorted off.

I'm so happy for you. I suspect there will be a lot of us (3FCs) going on rides this summer because we have made room for the ride to lock and still be comfortable.

Last summer, when I was 30lbs lighter, I took my son on a ride at a fair. It was a Pirate ship that was a scissor ride. The bar barely clicked down on the first click for me, which I was terrified it wouldn't even do (and boy, it was a squeeze) but it left my son unsecured. I spent the whole ride terrified he'd fall out.

I know I won't fit in the rides now, and I will NEVER again go into a situation like that. I love amuzement park rides, and rollar coasters are my fav's . I'm adding this as an additonal motivational thought for my weight loss. For now my kids are only 5 and 2 and the 5 year old isn't big enough for most rides. I will lose this weight before they get big enough for the rides; I don't want them to miss out on anything ever again do to my weight! Thanks for the post Eliana, it gave me a great motivation!

And congrats on fitting through the turns and on the rides!!

That is one of my biggest fears, not being able to buckle myself into a rollercoaster seat. How embarassing if I got kicked off cos I couldn't fit. I would just die.lol. I am going to Magic Mountain In October, so I have time to lose another 45 lbs before I go.
I'm glad u had so much fun. Its makes all the hard work worth it.

Are you talking about Kings Island? I love that place but I have avoided it for the past few years. I have lost 27 lbs and plan to tackle it this year. I love roller coasters.

I am talking about King's Island, yes. I was bummed I got sick before I had a chance to ride The Beast. You can't go to KI and not ride The Beast!! We have passes though, so I'm good. I just had to get all MY rides out of the way before taking the family. My kids are 10 and 8 and still fearful of rides. They're BIG kids (tall boys) so they're too big for the kiddie rides but fearful of the big rides. I can't convince the 10 year old that Adventure Express is nothing!

Eliana, I feel you pain. I am woring hard to turn my 6 almost 7 year old niece into a rollercoaster lover, but I fear I may be fighting a losing battle. I have resorted to buying her a toy everytime she rides a new ride lol.

Ariana, our youngest was big enough when he was FIVE! LOL! I'm telling you, my kids are huge. But they're still kids. He's now eight and is wearing a men's size 8 shoe.
