For the past nine years I have organized and hosted a plant swap/potluck every spring. It's grown to have some 135 people, thousands of plants for trading and a unbelievable potluck. It is absolutely one of the funnest things ever!
But, I've been nervous about the potluck. However, I started PLANNING early in the week my strategy. I knew that I would bring some healthy veggie dish and my friend was bringing a hot pasta dish. That is what I planned to have with any fresh fruit or veggies available. I also know that I don't ever have second helpings of anything anymorel So when I was faced with 5 huge picnic tables of every kind of food you could imagine....I took what I planned and sat away from that area. I had DH take charge of helping to set up the food- so I didn't have to deal with handling or setting it up.
I couldn't have had more than 400 calories. This is a HUGE victory for me.
I did not feel deprived.
