Default i am 24 and i really need help

Hello I really need help I want to lose weight last year my doctor told me I have PCOS and I been stressing since I have to do something I can't live like this I really need help my family don't care they all under 130 so they don't care even tho I told them my doctor said I'm on the border line for diabete and I don't want to die young because of a cycs or diabetes somebody please help me

Welcome to 3FC!

You seem a little overwhelmed. It can be distressing to be diagnosed with things like PCOS and Insulin Resistance. There's actually a subforum area around here under Dieting with Obstacles specifically about those things, so you'll want to check there to meet with other members who are working to lose weight healthfully.

Have you thought about what changes you can make in your life to lose weight? Have you considered any plans or tried any types of activities?

Hey hon! Just calm down, you can do this! If you really want help, I will tell you what I think. As Lovely said, you seem overwhelmed. You need to take it one day at a time. If you dwell on how hard it will be or how long it will take you will get frustrated and give up. But, you do need to understand that it's definately not easy! Can you pinpoint why you are overweight in the first place? For me I realized I was emotionally eating so now I practice letting myself just feel feelings, anger, sadness, pain, BOREDOM (that's the biggest one!) You gotta stop yourself before you eat for the wrong reasons. Only eat if you are hungry. It's hard to change if you've never done that before. Keeping a food journal (fitday.com) Switching to whole grains, watching carbs, quitting soda and exercise helps alot too. As far as that goes, walking everyday really does work! You start being able to walk faster and further, and before you know it you are jogging and running. You can do it!!!! Good luck, hun!

First, you have to calm down a bit.

Next, you need to do some research. I don't know a lot about PCOS, but I know more than a few ladies on the boards struggle with it. You need a plan. So do some research on healthy eating plans and find one you think will work for you. Try not get sucked into the fad diets, losing 30lbs in 3 weeks etc. sounds enticing but will damage your body in the long run.

Find out what specific challenges losing weight with PCOS you will face, and pick a plan you think will work the best. Read a lot and ask questions here. People here are very helpful.
