No crate for us either -- our dog barks constantly in a crate. We have to tranquilize our dog with drugs from the vet. We originally tried an anti-anxiety medication from the vet and it just made our dog worse (he runs from side to side in the car for hours, never settling down). Over the years we've been able to reduce the dosage by more than half so I count that as a success

I did the same - pretty much the same suggestions. I had some cut up apples, carrots, yogurts, I did spurgle on some honey grahams as well.
